Since 40 years the Tornado Class has mixed Teams in the rankings and at the Top..
It’s the class with a great mixed sailing history and many legendary mixed sailing
teams. Poul and Trine Elvström (DEN) where the great heroes in the 80s at the
Olympics.
The current Vice World champion's in the Tornado Class are a mixed team. With
CarolijnBrouwer (Helm) as Vice-World champion 2007 and NahidGaebler (Crew) as
World champion 2010 we have women at the top of the fleet too, NahidGaebler is
handling the 24sqm Gennacker downwind and the mainsheet on the upwind legs of
the course. 80% of the women in Tornado are crewing!

fits perfectly in the range.
Teams with weights between 120 and 170kg can sail the Tornado. Light crews are
able to handle the boat easily; the one design carbon mast guarantees the highest
safety, because it is very easy to lift up and allows sailing always at the upper edge.
The construction and size of the boat with twin trapeze allows sailors within the
weight range of 50 and 100kg to choose their position on board.
