Terrain d<strong>at</strong>a may be prepared for one <strong>of</strong> several models, and the<br />

structure <strong>of</strong> the output d<strong>at</strong>a file varies accordingly.<br />

Warnings are posted to the list file if grid cells contain fewer<br />

d<strong>at</strong>a points than ITHRES(%) <strong>of</strong> the mean for all cells. Such a<br />

warning may indic<strong>at</strong>e th<strong>at</strong> insufficient d<strong>at</strong>a coverage is provided by<br />

the terrain d<strong>at</strong>a files th<strong>at</strong> are processed.<br />

Threshold (%) <strong>of</strong> the average number <strong>of</strong> d<strong>at</strong>a points in a cell<br />

(ITHRES) Default: 75 ! ITHRES = 75 !<br />

Several d<strong>at</strong>a file types contain elev<strong>at</strong>ion d<strong>at</strong>a th<strong>at</strong> are stored <strong>at</strong> a fixed<br />

interval <strong>of</strong> l<strong>at</strong>itude and longitude in fractional degrees. Prior to<br />

TERREL v3.69 the method employed to map the (l<strong>at</strong>itude,longitude) loc<strong>at</strong>ions<br />

to the output grid coordin<strong>at</strong>es (x,y) transformed the coordin<strong>at</strong>es <strong>at</strong> the<br />

4 corners <strong>of</strong> a d<strong>at</strong>a-sheet (e.g., a 1-degree square), and then interpol<strong>at</strong>ed<br />

the interior points between these. <strong>The</strong> method introduced in TERREL v3.69<br />

transforms the loc<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> each individual d<strong>at</strong>a point read from the file.<br />

Either method may be selected using MSHEET. D<strong>at</strong>asets affected include:<br />

USGS90 USGS 1-deg DEM files (~90m)<br />

ARM3 ARM3 terrain d<strong>at</strong>a files(~900m)<br />

3CD 3CD (binary) 1-deg DEM files (~90m)<br />

CDED Canadian DEM files (3 and 0.75 arcsec)<br />

SRTM1 1-sec Shuttle RADAR Topo Mission files (~30m)<br />

SRTM3 3-sec Shuttle RADAR Topo Mission files (~90m)<br />

GTOPO30 GTOPO30 30-sec d<strong>at</strong>a (~900m)<br />

(MSHEET) No Default ! MSHEET = 0 !<br />

0 = Transform 4 corners <strong>of</strong> d<strong>at</strong>a sheet and interpol<strong>at</strong>e<br />
