<strong>The</strong> results <strong>of</strong> the 2001 qualify<strong>in</strong>g<br />
exam<strong>in</strong>ation have already been<br />
dispatched <strong>to</strong> all c<strong>and</strong>idates <strong>in</strong><br />
August. <strong>The</strong> average score <strong>of</strong> the<br />
thirteen papers attempted by 97<br />
c<strong>and</strong>idates was 52.06%. <strong>The</strong> lowest<br />
pass<strong>in</strong>g rate was 14.29% <strong>in</strong> the<br />
subject <strong>of</strong> <strong>Logistics</strong> Management.<br />
Economics <strong>and</strong> its Application <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>Transport</strong> followed this with a<br />
pass<strong>in</strong>g rate <strong>of</strong> 33.33%.<br />
This year’s exam<strong>in</strong>ation had a high<br />
absentee rate <strong>of</strong> 31%. C<strong>and</strong>idates<br />
should consider the time <strong>and</strong> their<br />
availability dur<strong>in</strong>g the exam<strong>in</strong>ation<br />
period before they submit their<br />
application forms. C<strong>and</strong>idates are<br />
expected <strong>to</strong> have studied the subject<br />
thoroughly <strong>and</strong> read the questions<br />
carefully <strong>in</strong> the exam<strong>in</strong>ation. We<br />
hope that c<strong>and</strong>idates would also<br />
make full use <strong>of</strong> this study pack <strong>in</strong><br />
their revision <strong>and</strong> attend the<br />
relevant courses conducted by CILT<br />
<strong>to</strong> ensure a pass <strong>in</strong> the exam<strong>in</strong>ation.<br />
<strong>The</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g chart shows the<br />
average pass rate <strong>in</strong> percentage for<br />
the twelve papers.<br />

<strong>The</strong> most common comments received<br />
from the exam<strong>in</strong>ers were:<br />
• Failed <strong>to</strong> comprehend the current<br />
<strong>in</strong>dustry trend <strong>and</strong> did not provide an<br />
adequate answer <strong>to</strong> obta<strong>in</strong> a pass<br />
mark for the question;<br />
• Unable <strong>to</strong> demonstrate his/her<br />
underst<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> the concept. It may<br />
be due <strong>to</strong> mis<strong>in</strong>terpretation <strong>of</strong> the<br />
question;<br />
• Provided very brief answers or simply<br />
<strong>in</strong> po<strong>in</strong>t form. Knew the subject<br />
matter but could not portray the<br />
concepts or arguments clearly;<br />
• Either did not study the subject well<br />
or misunders<strong>to</strong>od the questions<br />
Follow<strong>in</strong>g the change <strong>in</strong> the <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />
name <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong> from CIT <strong>in</strong> Hong<br />
Kong <strong>to</strong> CILT <strong>in</strong> Hong Kong, the<br />
syllabus <strong>of</strong> the qualify<strong>in</strong>g exam<strong>in</strong>ation<br />
was bound <strong>to</strong> change <strong>and</strong> will <strong>in</strong>clude<br />
more logistics related subjects <strong>in</strong> the<br />
forthcom<strong>in</strong>g exam<strong>in</strong>ations.<br />
