formul<strong>at</strong>ion (denoted here as 10d). <strong>The</strong>se near-shore loc<strong>at</strong>ions may present windwave<br />

interactions th<strong>at</strong> are different from those in the open ocean, but the simple<br />

adjustment in option c10s does not capture these. Perhaps wave observ<strong>at</strong>ions in<br />

combin<strong>at</strong>ion with the COARE wave options in c11 or c12 would improve model<br />

performance in “shallow” w<strong>at</strong>er, but such observ<strong>at</strong>ions are not contained in these<br />

d<strong>at</strong>asets. Based on this evalu<strong>at</strong>ion, the standard COARE option (denoted here as<br />

c10d) may be used <strong>at</strong> near shore loc<strong>at</strong>ions in the OCS regions.<br />
