The project has no analogues in Russia’s cultural policy practices.<br />

Activities:<br />

• arranging comprehensive study and systemic planning of a longterm<br />

future for the indigenous communities of Yakutia; pushing the<br />

foresight boundaries to 40-50 years through the engagement of a<br />

broad range of competent Russian and foreign experts;<br />

• forming a public consensus, creating a broad-based public coalition for<br />

translating the most preferable of scenarios into reality, organizing and<br />

supporting the processes of long-term preservation and reproduction<br />

of Yakutia’s cultures and languages;<br />

• elaborating principles of socio-cultural policy, building strategies and<br />

programmes for the preservation and promotion of Yakutia’s languages<br />

and cultures within the format of strategic partnership between the<br />

government, the business community, and the general public.<br />

Aims and goals:<br />

1. analyzing the problems of reproduction and development of socioanthropological<br />

systems amid global transformations; elaborating a<br />

systemic model for ethnicities’ socio-cultural reproduction processes;<br />

2. studying exterior economic, political and cultural processes that define<br />

the possibilities and prospects for the existence and development of<br />

Yakutia’s indigenous communities in the long term;<br />

3. analyzing the demographic, economic, social and cultural performance<br />

indicators for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia); the traditional<br />

economy’s potential; the potential of basic economic sectors;<br />

communities’ demographic and socio-cultural reproduction processes<br />

and institutions supporting that reproduction; cultural processes;<br />

socialization patterns (in adults and children alike); communities’<br />

traditional occupations, culture, language, value systems, mentality<br />

and forms of communication;<br />

4. exploring sensitivities of Yakutia’s indigenous communities, including<br />

their socio-psychological, demographic, cultural, anthropological and<br />

other characteristics, as well as specific features in socio-cultural,<br />

demographic and other processes that are seen as sources of risks and<br />

threats for the preservation and further development of indigenous<br />

cultures and languages;<br />
