The Story of Rosa Parks By Chelsie Jones Rosa Parks was an incredibly magnificent lady—especially when she stood up for herself. WAIT!!!! Let me tell you what happened………. Rosa Parks was on the bus on her way home from her job (as a clothes designer) when a white man with two ladies next to him arrived. They got the bus driver after waiting a couple of seconds as Rosa would not vacate her seat for them. Patiently and disappointedly the bus driver was disturbed and got out of his seat. He demanded Rosa Parks to get out of the seat she was sitting on. She said, “No.” He threatened her to get out of that seat, or he had to call the police. After a while she decided to answer, “I don’t care,” and she was thinking ‘just because we are brown it doesn’t mean we do not have rights’. The driver was amazingly surprised. So he called the police like he warned Rosa he was going to do. Finally the police came and said kindly “Please may you get out of this seat for this white gentleman” Rosa asked, “Why can’t you change the law” “It’s not my job.” replied the policeman. So they took Rosa Parks away to have her finger prints taken. Lastly, Martin Luther King gave this marvelous speech about his dream which was about white people and black people being friends…………... Woof! What an amazing and true story! 12

By Nada Learning at Lowther is sensational. We learn in a variety of ways. The way we have experienced art in Year 6 means that we have all produced outstanding pieces. (Have a look on Hanaa and Leah’s art page). The colour in pop art has inspired me the most and I love the way we make things relevant to our learning topics. Mr Tuffney teaches the whole school times tables in a really fun way using cartoon clips and songs. Someone over there looks a bit like me! I’d like to learn in that class! Their learning is going through the ‘woof’! 13

Rosa Parks was an incredibly magnificent
lady—especially when she stood up for
herself. WAIT!!!! Let me tell you what
happened……….
Rosa Parks was on the bus on her way
home from her job (as a clothes designer)
when a white man with two ladies next to
him arrived. They got the bus driver after
waiting a couple of seconds as Rosa would
not vacate her seat for them. Patiently
and disappointedly the bus driver was
disturbed and got out of his seat. He
demanded Rosa Parks to get out of the
seat she was sitting on.
She said, “No.” He
threatened her to get
out of that seat, or he
had to call the police.
After a while she
decided to answer, “I
don’t care,” and she was
thinking ‘just because
we are brown it doesn’t
“It’s not my job.” replied
the policeman.
So they took Rosa Parks
prints taken.
Lastly, Martin Luther
King gave this marvelous
speech about his dream
which was about white
people and black people
being friends…………...
Woof! What an amazing
and true story!
