For general public : To augment the publicity and public<br />

education efforts on its offender rehabilitation services, the<br />

CSD rendered support to RTHK’s radio programme<br />

“Devoted to You”, broadcasted television and radio APIs and<br />

produced DVDs of the TV docu-drama “The Road Back V”,<br />

posters and souvenirs for distribution to schools and other<br />

interested organisations. In addition, senior CSD officers<br />

continued to reach out to the community to introduce the<br />

work of the Department and reiterate the importance of<br />

community acceptance of, and support for, rehabilitated<br />

offenders.<br />

In addition, the Department appointed Table-tennis Duo<br />

KO Lai-chak and LI Ching, East Asian Games medallists, as<br />

the Rehabilitation Ambassadors in December 2009 to assist<br />

in the publicity work on rehabilitation. The Department also<br />

staged a TV variety show “Support Offender Rehabilitation<br />

for a Safer and More Inclusive Society” in February 2010<br />

which aimed at enhancing the community’s understanding of<br />

the Department’s rehabilitative services and appealing for<br />

their support for offender rehabilitation.<br />

The CSD continued to hold certificate presentation<br />

ceremonies in 2009-10 to demonstrate the inmates’ efforts in<br />

and commitment to personal enhancement. To give<br />

recognition to the volunteers’ contributions to offender<br />

rehabilitation, the Department held an annual award<br />

presentation ceremony on 23 June 2009.<br />

For employers : The CSD organised visits to correctional<br />

institutions for employers to enhance their understanding of<br />

the Department’s rehabilitation services, in particular the<br />

vocational training courses for young offenders. In<br />

collaboration with merchant / trade associations, the<br />

Department organised employment service support projects<br />

to provide vocational training opportunities for offenders.<br />

With the Department’s coordination, a local catering operator<br />

and the Society of Rehabilitation and <strong>Crime</strong> Prevention,<br />

Hong Kong established a social enterprise in August 2008<br />

under the Rice Dumpling Production Project to provide<br />

employment opportunities for rehabilitated offenders. In<br />
