Dear Wesleyan Alumni and Friends, The theme and content of the Sundial demonstrates that West Virginia Wesleyan’s influence reaches far beyond the local area and the West Virginia border. Those of us who work in the Office of Advancement have the unique opportunity to see firsthand how Wesleyan influences the world through conversations with our many stakeholders — alumni, friends, students, faculty, staff, parents, foundations, businesses and corporations, political leaders, and members of the media. Since 1890, Wesleyan has strived to prepare value-centered graduates who think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, act responsibly, and demonstrate their local and world citizenship through service. Sharing the Wesleyan story is far more than a job responsibility. For us, it is truly a love affair. Wesleyan is a place where lives are transformed, where lifelong friendships are developed, and where many dreams are realized. Today’s Wesleyan students, much like those of the past, are engaged in the classroom, active in research, invested in campus activities, and committed to serving others. They are academically inquisitive and participate in a wide range of student and social activities. Most importantly, they are well prepared for the next chapter in their lives. Their accomplishments and transforming experiences do not happen by accident. They are a result of our ability to attract talented students and faculty. Gifts that we receive from alumni and friends strengthen Wesleyan by allowing us to build new state-of-the-art facilities and by funding scholarships that provide access for students. We are grateful for the support you have provided this past year. Every gift, no matter the size, strengthens Wesleyan. The impact you are having on our students and the world is truly a noble investment. This year, we look forward to sharing the Wesleyan story with you on campus and in the cities and towns in which you live! Sincerely, The Office of Advancement Staff
