Human Resources and Organizational Development – towards an effective<br />

organization – Bhutan (2008/09)<br />

MSM designed this training program in Bhutan for a selected group of twelve<br />

participants working as principles of Vocational Training Institutes and<br />

several key staff members of the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources<br />

(MOLHR).<br />

Topics of the program are related to organizational culture aimed at<br />

improving the performance of Vocational Training Institutes (VTIs), with<br />

an emphasis on the influence of national culture on Human Resources<br />

Management. Skills classes focus on HRM tools such as motivation, loyalty,<br />

job descriptions, performance appraisal, and recruitment. Furthermore, the<br />

program includes topics related to mass communication aimed at enhancing<br />

the reputation of Vocational Training Institutes in Bhutan.<br />

Sustainable Tourism Development in Eastern Africa – Kenya, Rwanda,<br />

Tanzania, Uganda, 2007/2008<br />

This training program was designed at the request of the African Wildlife<br />

Foundation (AWF). The AWF, present in 12 countries in Africa, plays an<br />

important role in enhancing conservation and local development through<br />

tourism in the 4 East African countries selected as participants in this<br />

training program: Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.<br />

The purpose of the program was to strengthen the capacity of facilitating<br />

organizations around National Parks (community leaders, district planners,<br />

tourism developers, guides, trainers etc.) in Eastern Africa related to<br />

sustainable tourism development, conservation and economic development.<br />

Experts from the implementing Consortium, consisting of MSM (lead<br />

partner), Wageningen University – WICE, NHTV and SNV East and Southern<br />

Africa, have trained the groups in the different sessions. Field excursions<br />

were included in the program to several Community Based Tourism<br />

initiatives (including public private partnerships) to share best practices.<br />

MSM designed and implemented this training at the request of Katani Ltd.,<br />

an agro-industrial private company involved in the sisal business. The aim of<br />

the program is to strengthen the capacity of the management of Katani Ltd.<br />

in order for them to adopt a corporate culture. The ultimate objective is to<br />

change the behavior and culture of the employees, enabling the organization<br />

to maintain their position in a competitive environment.<br />

MSM will cooperate with the Eastern and Southern African Management<br />

Institute (ESAMI) in Arusha in the implementation of this tailor-made training<br />

designing and delivering two tailor-made training programs. The first<br />

program focused on enhancing the capacity of the trainers and consultants<br />

in the field of training, consultancy and e-learning.<br />

The second program, which started in 2008, is taught by MSM in close<br />

cooperation with local experts and contributes to strengthening the quality of<br />

teaching and training towards higher education performance and improved<br />

consultancy and project management skills. In this program, a group<br />

compiled of academic staff and consultants will be trained with the objective<br />

of supporting ICP to become a leading educational institute by providing high<br />

quality and professional education services in the Palestinian Territories. The<br />

program will be conducted partly in the Netherlands, Bethlehem, Ramallah<br />

and Jericho and includes continuous coaching of participants through work<br />

assignments.<br />

Advanced Management Program for Administrative Staff College of India<br />

(ASCI) – India, 2004/ongoing<br />

Since 2004, MSM has designed and organized several study tours in the<br />

Netherlands for Senior <strong>Executive</strong>s of the Advanced Management Program<br />

(AMP), which is implemented each year by ASCI in Hyderabad, India. These<br />

study tours combine management lecturers, exposure to management<br />

practices in the Netherlands and European countries with discussions about<br />

integrating learning into practice.<br />

Marketing and ICT Training / Proposal Writing & Tendermanagement –<br />

Tanzania, 2007/09<br />

The tailor-made training program ‘ICT and Marketing’ has been designed for<br />

the management staff of the Eastern Management Training Institute (ESAMI)<br />

in Tanzania with field offices in Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia,<br />

Zimbabwe, Namibia, Swaziland and Uganda.<br />

The overall objective of the training was to enhance the efficiency and<br />

effectiveness of ESAMI’s staff in the country offices as well as that of the<br />

senior staff involved in marketing at the institute’s headquarters. As a direct<br />

follow-up, a core group of ESAMI received a hands-on training on proposal<br />

writing and tender management build around real life cases.<br />
