2004/2005 Award Recipients<br />
Each year the Foundation honors both individuals and<br />
organizations that have provided extraordinary support for our<br />
mission. Below list of the 2004/2005 award recipients.<br />
STANLEY M. TRUHLSEN, MD<br />
Dr. Stanley Truhlsen has provided a gift of<br />
$1 million towards the Museum of Vision.<br />
In doing so, Dr. Truhlsen became a charter<br />
member of The Visionary Society.<br />
KNIGHTS TEMPLAR EYE<br />
FOUNDATION, INC.<br />
The Knights Templar Eye Foundation has<br />
been a long-standing partner in supporting<br />
EyeCare America. Their contributions to<br />
the Seniors EyeCare Program have enabled<br />
us to serve hundreds of thousands of<br />
people and reach millions more each year<br />
with our messages about eye health and<br />
blindness prevention.<br />
RETINA RESEARCH FOUNDATION<br />
The Retina Research Foundation has<br />
provided over $1 million to the Academy<br />
Foundation with ongoing support<br />
throughout the years. This year the<br />
organization provided us with a gift of<br />
$100,000 toward ophthalmic education.<br />
We are grateful to the Retina Research<br />
Foundation for its ongoing support and<br />
commitment to our mission.<br />
DAVID PALMER, MD<br />
Dr. David Palmer has demonstrated his<br />
commitment to the preservation of sight<br />
by proactively seeking opportunities to<br />
educate the general public about glaucoma<br />
risk factors and to promote the importance<br />
of glaucoma exams. Dr. Palmer has sought<br />
out ways to elevate EyeCare America<br />
programs by securing interviews with local<br />
and national media outlets such as Ebony<br />
magazine and WTBS-TV.<br />
PFIZER OPHTHALMICS<br />
Over the past two years, Pfizer<br />
Ophthalmics has contributed more than<br />
$1.6 million to the Foundation. Included<br />
in that is a $1.5 million grant used to<br />
support EyeCare America’s Glaucoma<br />
EyeCare Program.<br />
ALCON<br />
This year, we recognized Alcon for<br />
its continued support of the Academy<br />
Foundation and their recent contribution<br />
of $1.125 million to EyeCare America’s<br />
Seniors EyeCare Program.<br />
SANTEN, INC.<br />
Over the last two years, Santen has<br />
supported educational programs of the<br />
Foundation with support totaling over<br />
$200,000.<br />
ALLERGAN, INC.<br />
Allergan’s support of Foundation<br />
programs for the last two years has totaled<br />
over $125,000.<br />
NOVARTIS OPHTHALMICS<br />
We would like to thank Novartis<br />
Ophthalmics for two years of contributions<br />
totaling more than $100,000.
