iv) The Study <strong>Report</strong> should be discussed in a Tripartite Forum at Mine Level,<br />

Area Level and also at Company Level to know the high risk areas and<br />

implement the preventive measure plans so that the efforts are directed to yield<br />

desired results in timely and sustained manner.<br />

v) One <strong>of</strong> the Inspective Officers from every discipline from DGMS should also<br />

be involved in such System Study and <strong>Safety</strong> Audit program to contribute and<br />

arrive at certain valuable decision.<br />

vi) <strong>Annual</strong> System Study and <strong>Safety</strong> Audit <strong>Report</strong> <strong>of</strong> every mine after finalization<br />

in the Company should be submitted to DGMS for information and<br />

suggestion.<br />

vii) The Action Taken <strong>Report</strong> on the System Study and <strong>Safety</strong> Audit <strong>Report</strong> should<br />

also be prepared and submitted to the Company as well as to DGMS including<br />

the Trade Unions having major or prominent representation in the mine.<br />

Risk Reduction Program (RRP) is an ongoing process to achieve Zero Harm<br />

Status <strong>of</strong> <strong>Safety</strong> in any mien and it is expected that all the persons, organizations,<br />

unions, agencies involved directly or indirectly in mining and allied business would<br />

cooperate and help achieve this goal <strong>of</strong> the DGMS and all mining Companies.<br />

cables.<br />

Sub:- Use <strong>of</strong> flexible cables in drilling rigs and in other similar equipments in<br />

Oil <strong>Mines</strong> Reg.<br />

1.0 Flexible cables are in use with drilling rigs and in other similar equipments in<br />

oil mines.<br />

2.0 The electrical equipments used in a drillings machine are high capacity DC<br />

motors, 3 phase AC motors, their control gears, light fittings and<br />

instrumentations.<br />

3.0 Flexible cables used with circuits exceeding low voltage shall be provided<br />

with flexible metallic screening or pliable armouring.<br />

4.0 Such flexible metallic screening if used as a means <strong>of</strong> protections from<br />

mechanical injury it shall not be used by itself to form an earth conductor, but<br />

it may be used for that purpose in conjunction with an earthing core.<br />

5.0 Though the metallic screening shall not be used by itself to form an earth<br />

conductor the same shall have conductivity at all parts and at all joints at least<br />

equal at 50 percent <strong>of</strong> the conductivity <strong>of</strong> the largest conductor.<br />

6.0 IS: 14494-1998 “Elastomer insulated flexible cables for use in minesspecifications”<br />

an IS 9968 Part – I & II, “Specifications for elastomer insulated<br />

cables” are the relevant Indian Standards available on elastomer insulated<br />

cables.<br />

7.0 IS: 14494-1998 is mainly for flexible cables used in belowground and open<br />

cast mines. This standard does not cover flexible cables used in oil mines.<br />
