The <strong>Attorney</strong> <strong>General</strong>’s Consumer<br />

Information & Complaints (CIC)<br />

Unit received 25,124 consumer<br />

complaints in fiscal year <strong>2006</strong>. For<br />

the fourth consecutive year, car<br />

sales and repair services ranked<br />

as the No. 1 complaint filed.<br />

Each complaint is reviewed by a<br />

CIC staff member. Many<br />

complaints result in enforcement<br />

actions against companies or<br />

merchants under the <strong>Arizona</strong><br />

Consumer Fraud Act. The Office<br />

is prohibited by law, however,<br />

from giving individual consumers<br />

legal advice.<br />

Consumer fraud, as defined by<br />

<strong>Arizona</strong> law, is any deception,<br />

false statement, false pretense,<br />

false promise or misrepresentation<br />

made by a seller or advertiser.<br />

been victims of consumer fraud<br />
