Direct Technical Control of a Message Switch Network at a Signal Brigade or Higher

Conditions: As a network management technician assigned to a Signal Brigade S3 (EAC, ECB, or Joint),
you are given an OPORD/SOP, an operating message switch network, and appropriate references. A
change of network status or configuration is required.
Standards: The message switch network was operational IAW the OPORD/SOP.
Performance Steps
1. Analyze quality of service and network performance.

b. Backlog thresholds.
c. Service messages.
d. Traffic routing.
e. Intercept overflows.
f. Database configurations.
2. Identify, control, and coordinate network troubleshooting.
3. Prioritize restoration/reconfiguration of circuit/trunks.
4. Monitor message switch recovery procedures.
5. Ensure compliance with operational COMSEC procedures.
6. Direct reactivation of circuits.
7. Monitor restoration/reconfiguration of message switch network.
8. Provide management information to the JCCC or higher.
9. Conduct risk assessment.
