Plan a Message Switch Network at a Signal Battalion
113-324-7001
Conditions: You are in a Signal Battalion S3 environment and must design a message switch network
(EAC, ECB, and Joint). You are given an OPORD, the subscriber requirements, appropriate references,
and status of switching equipment.
Standards: Accepted the plan for inclusion in the OPORD and the plan supported the communications
requirements.
Performance Steps
1. Determine availability of resources.
2. Coordinate higher and adjacent system interface connectivity.
3. Determine switching equipment interface and connectivity requirements.
4. Determine subscriber terminal interface and connectivity requirements.
5. Determine network AUTODIN access requirements.
a. Review telecommunications service request (TSR).
b. Review telecommunications service order (TSO).
c. Develop or interpret SAR/GAR.
6. Prepare system diagram, network diagram, and OPORD appendix.
7. Identify user communities (R, U, and Y).
8. Obtain Y routers, TCC, and TRC codes.
9. Prepare database.
10. Identify sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) activation and deactivation
requirements/procedures.
11. Determine crypto-key requirements, distribution plan, and crypto-key variable management plan.
