OF PALAEOBOTANY<br />
Library is committed to provide world class<br />
information support to its users and fulfill its mission to<br />
facilitate creation and dissemination <strong>of</strong> knowledge.<br />
Besides holding an excellent collection mainly including<br />
palaeobotany and its allied subjects (63794) <strong>of</strong> books,<br />
journals, reprints, thesis, reports, etc, it also provides online<br />
access <strong>of</strong> many journals, databases through its own<br />
subscription and by National Knowledge Resource<br />
Consortium (NKRC) <strong>of</strong> CSIR-DST. Through the support<br />
<strong>of</strong> information Communication Technology, library has<br />
provided widespread and inclusive access <strong>of</strong><br />
Palaeobotanical knowledge to its users. To achieve this<br />
objective it is continuously modernizing its collection,<br />
services and facilities.<br />
All back issues <strong>of</strong> the journal Palaeobotanist are<br />
digitized and soon will be hosted on the institute’s website.<br />
Barcoding <strong>of</strong> literature is completed. Weekly service <strong>of</strong><br />
New Arrivals having content pages <strong>of</strong> journals/ books<br />
displayed and News Clipping having scientific contents<br />
from Newspapers are being regularly communicated to<br />
users by e-mail. Libsys s<strong>of</strong>tware supports all in- house<br />
operations like Cataloguing, circulation, serial control and<br />
binding management. The holdings are accessible by<br />
OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). OPAC is<br />
searchable by Author, title, accession number, subject and<br />
several other fields. New literature procured is<br />
continuously added to the database.<br />

Other Facilities<br />
Lamination— To preserve the old and rare literatures,<br />
lamination and photocopying <strong>of</strong> such publications is being<br />
regularly undertaken.<br />
Photocopying— Photocopy facility <strong>of</strong> relevant scientific<br />
literature is being extended to institute scientists, as well<br />
as to outside scientific institutions/ universities on their<br />
demand.<br />
Inter-Library Loan Service— <strong>Institute</strong> is part <strong>of</strong> a Local<br />
Library Network facilitating the availability <strong>of</strong> books on<br />
loan for BSIP Library users on request.<br />
