2008
Eric Kinch graduated from George Washington
University and is an intern at ICE (Immigration and
Customs Enforcement). Eric is also now a graduate
student at the University of Maryland.
Grant Gates was promoted to Corporal in the United
States Marine Corps. Grant is stationed at Camp
Pendleton, California, and was scheduled to deploy in
December.
angela chite was accepted to do a year of service with
Vincentian Service Corps West. She will be working as a
nurse in an underserved hospital in Los Angeles, CA, and
living in community with other volunteers in a house on
a retreat center. The housing is provided for free, and
Angela will be given a small monthly stipend and have
the use of a community car. The community provides
five retreats throughout the year in different areas of the
West Coast and fosters faith formation of the volunteers.
The program runs from August 2012 until July 2013.
Angela’s next step is to take the NCLEX, which is her
nursing licensure examination. Angela has been
accepted to the Vincentian Service Corps service
program but is awaiting her work placement.
Katherine murphy, an electrical engineering major at
Boston University, is working with Dr. Mark Horenstein
to develop a nanoparticle-based technology that will
allow for improved drug delivery to specialized skin
cells. This project is likely to have relevance in medical
practice. The Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Program announced Katherine as one of the recipients
of the Clare Boothe Luce Scholar Awards, which
supports undergraduate summer research projects
undertaken by female U. S. citizens. The Clare Boothe
Luce Award was established by Clare Booth Luce, a
playwright, journalist, U.S. Ambassador to Italy, and the
first woman elected to Congress from Connecticut, “to
encourage women to enter, study, graduate, and teach”
in the fields of science, mathematics and engineering.
2010
Kevin mcallister made Dean's List Spring Semester at
Montgomery College and received an invitation to join
the Renaissance Scholars Honors program. Kevin
transferred to Loyola University in Baltimore in the fall
2012.
