Preparation and Attendance Policy
Since participation in physical education is the basis for achieving our goals and objectives, it is important that
students attend class and be prepared on a regular basis.
Attendance
Excused Absence – (class trip, college visit, home sick, testing center, suspension, music lesson, counselor
visit, or other approved reason) - Students will be allowed 4 excused absences per quarter. After the 4 th
excused absence the student is required to make up the class to receive credit.
Unexcused Absence- (cut class) – will result in full loss of credit for the day and a referral to the high school
office. CLASS CAN NOT BE MADE UP. 3 or more unexcused absences in a quarter will result in a denial of
credit.
Lateness or Early Departure – 4 unexcused lateness/early departure will result in 1 unexcused absence. When
the bell rings students will be allowed 5 minutes to change, exceeding this time limit will be considered
lateness.
*Students unable to participate due to a medical reason must report to their assigned physical education class.
An alternative assignment will be offered to earn credit for the day.
*Students not prepared or who are unable to participate in physical education are not allowed to participate in
interscholastic sports, or cheerleading on the same day.
*Physical Education make-ups will be offered every other day. Space is limited in the Make Up classes. In order
to provide a safe and healthy learning environment, students will need to sign up prior to attending the
make up class. All make-ups must be made within 2 weeks of the missed assignment.
