the expansion bridge before, all of that banging,
clanking, especially at night, that's the old
structure having problems that it is today.
Fortunately the modern structure out there, just by
being a modern structure in terms of the expansion
joints on it, on the roadway deck, it'll be a lot
quieter.
The rough out to out dimension of the new
structure is about 88 feet, I believe. It's going to
be built five-foot off of the existing bridge. It'll
be a five-foot construction clearance, it'll be built,
and it's being built out to the edge of that 300 foot
right of way that exists.
MR. RUDOLPH: So it'll be 80 feet closer,
actually.
MR. BERTOULIS: You could call it 88 plus that
five, so 93.
MR. RUDOLPH: Okay. My second thought is -- and
probably, I'm sure this has been addressed, but the
present bridge has -- for stormwater run-off it just
goes directly into the river. In fact, a year or so
ago when there was a gasoline truck that turned over
near the Newburyport exit, that gasoline was in the
river in probably minutes.
