who the bridge was named for, and also the history of<br />

the river itself. There will be a series of<br />

interpretive panels along here. And on the ones<br />

associated with the crossing, there most likely will<br />

be some elements of the bridge. You have one of the<br />

complex details or per se -- or one the riveted<br />

connections will be on display so people can see how<br />

old bridges -- old, relatively speaking, from the<br />

1<strong>95</strong>0s when it changed, 1<strong>95</strong>0s before the bridges were<br />

riveted structures, and so one of those will be there<br />

with some explanation panels explaining the old<br />

construction type.<br />

There's also an interpretive -- an overlook just<br />

before the arch. That's coming up right here.<br />

Naturally the arch is framed with the two overlooks.<br />

So there's two overlooks out on the bridge and there's<br />

actually one on the -- one on the southern approach in<br />

Newburyport. And that falls in place with the<br />

original design of this bridge, is that actually on<br />

the southern shore right near where the bridge is<br />

being widened, there used to be a parking area there.<br />

There was originally a cantilevered sidewalk on this<br />

bridge. It was a scenic overlook. People could get<br />
