This is the shared use path head of trail up in
Amesbury tying into Old Merrill Road. In the
background it's basically the ramp coming off of 95 to
Route 110 east.
I'm going to turn it over to Joe Freeman. He's going
to walk through the environmental process and I'll
pick it up at the end and run through some of the
modelling we did.
MR. FREEMAN: Thank you, Mike. The heart of any
environmental process, any environmental assessment,
Environmental Impact Report is an alternatives
analysis. As Mike said earlier, we did look at
alternative bridge and highway alignment alternatives.
We screened those alternatives for a series of
environmental and engineering criteria. Our result
was our -- what we call our preferred alternative
which is the eight-lane bridge across the Merrimack
River to the east with the inside widening of I-95
north of 110 up to past 495 up towards Exit 60 in the
inside, in the median, and including the shared use
path from the park and ride at Exit 57 up to the Route
110 intersection. That alternative best met some of
our engineering and environmental criteria including
