This is the shared use path head of trail up in<br />

Amesbury tying into Old Merrill Road. In the<br />

background it's basically the ramp coming off of <strong>95</strong> to<br />

Route 110 east.<br />

I'm going to turn it over to Joe Freeman. He's going<br />

to walk through the environmental process and I'll<br />

pick it up at the end and run through some of the<br />

modelling we did.<br />

MR. FREEMAN: Thank you, Mike. The heart of any<br />

environmental process, any environmental assessment,<br />

<strong>Environmental</strong> <strong>Impact</strong> <strong>Report</strong> is an alternatives<br />

analysis. As Mike said earlier, we did look at<br />

alternative bridge and highway alignment alternatives.<br />

We screened those alternatives for a series of<br />

environmental and engineering criteria. Our result<br />

was our -- what we call our preferred alternative<br />

which is the eight-lane bridge across the Merrimack<br />

River to the east with the inside widening of I-<strong>95</strong><br />

north of 110 up to past 4<strong>95</strong> up towards Exit 60 in the<br />

inside, in the median, and including the shared use<br />

path from the park and ride at Exit 57 up to the Route<br />

110 intersection. That alternative best met some of<br />

our engineering and environmental criteria including<br />
