Interlibrary Loan
Books and journals that are not
available locally may be
borrowed from other libraries
through the interlibrary loan
program. Local borrowing of
many items may be initiated by
library users through the
library’s online catalog. The
library is also able to request
items from over 40,000 libraries
in 76 countries and territories in
over 400 languages through the
international online network of
the Online Computer Library
Center (OCLC).

The Roux Library is an integral part of the intellectual life of
the College. Our mission is to educate students in developing
lifelong, critical information-seeking skills through its
staff, collections, and services.
The library's resources include

• 640 periodical subscriptions
• access to over 7,000 full-text
electronic periodicals through
over 70 electronic databases
• access to 16,000+ electronic
books, a 7,000 item media
collection that includes
videocassettes, CDs, DVDs,
and CD-ROMs
• a 430,000+ microforms collection
• seating for over 350 students.
• computers to access the Internet as well as word
processing and spreadsheet programs are available.
• media and listening carrels for viewing and listening to
videocassettes, DVDs, CDs, audiocassettes, and LPs.
The library is open daily, 82 hours a week during fall and
spring semesters:
Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Friday
8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday
2 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Summer hours:
Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Friday
8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The Roux Library: FAQ
Can I use the internet in the library
The library provides eight computers for Internet,
word processing, and other uses on the first floor of
the library. You must have a FSC login and password
to use these computers. You may obtain the
login and password from Computer Services in the
Central Computer Laboratory on campus. All library
computers have access to printers.
What electronic resources does the library have
The library subscribes to over 50 electronic
databases. Some of these databases cover a broad
range of subjects in a variety of scholarly
publications. Other databases are subject-specific
and provide in-depth coverage of only that particular
subject area.
Can I access library databases from home and
other campus computer labs
Yes. The library’s databases are available through
the library’s home page. Connections to many of
the databases require access through the campuswide
network. Computer Services provides you
information on accessing the campus network upon
enrollment. Some databases are available outside
the campus-network. Please inquire at the library
for more information.
Are there any other programs or software loaded on
the library's computers
Yes, Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Publisher.
ABOUT FLORIDA SOUTHERN COLLEGE
Florida Southern College is a four-year, private, coeducational
liberal arts college affiliated with the
United Methodist Church. The college offers more
than 40 undergraduate majors and a master of business
administration degree accredited by the Commission
