occupations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> people. In all, it is now well established that<br />

seismic activities associated with oil exploration, flar<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> associated<br />

gases <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> process <strong>of</strong> produc<strong>in</strong>g oil, spills <strong>of</strong> crude oil dur<strong>in</strong>g drill<strong>in</strong>g<br />

and ruptured pipes <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> course <strong>of</strong> transportation to export term<strong>in</strong>als<br />

and ref<strong>in</strong>eries through pipel<strong>in</strong>es, as well as <strong>the</strong> discharge <strong>of</strong> noxious<br />

effluents <strong>in</strong>to water bodies from <strong>the</strong> ref<strong>in</strong>eries and drill<strong>in</strong>g activities<br />

have been some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ways through which <strong>the</strong> air has been polluted,<br />
