The Course
Bachelor of Business Information Technology
(BBIT) is a modern course that brings together
two key aspects of computer training, that is, the
link between Information Technology and the
business environment.
In the past many students would have found
opportunities in the work environment with
just computer science training. Employers
today prefer students who have a thorough
knowledge of Information Technology and
who at the same time understand how
business organisations are managed. The
course is aimed at imparting a wide spectrum
of knowledge and includes courses that cover
human and character formation such as Ethics
and Languages. BBIT has been developed
after much research based on experience
within the Kenyan job market.
Strathmore was among the first colleges
to start ICT training for middle level
management and leads in this area in the
local as well as the regional market.
The course is structured to focus on
issues surrounding development and
implementation of IT solutions that meet
organisational strategies ie:
• Strategic use of information systems to
give businesses a competitive advantage
through proper information management
• Management of ICT as a strategic
corporate resource

Learning Facilities
E-Learning
Strathmore University is a pioneer in the use
of ICT. Our e-learning system enables students
to view the coursework material that lecturers
have posted, submit their finished assignments,
update their calendars, interact and chat with
fellow students, participate in various fora and
communicate with their lecturer. Students have
access to numerous computer laboratories,
unlimited Internet, a wide range of software
and e-mail. A wireless network enables
students with laptops access to the network
from various locations around the campus.
Library
The library complex and reading room are
spacious, with an atmosphere that is highly
conducive to private study and research. The

Education Financing
To help you manage your education financing,
Strathmore has partnered with Commercial
Bank of Africa and the World Bank’s International
Finance Corporation to offer low-interest loans to
students pursuing degrees and diplomas at the
University. Students can also get loans from
the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

Entry
Requirements
• KCSE Aggregate C+ with a minimum of C
in both Mathematics and English.
• KACE certificate with a minimum of two
principal passes, and a minimum of a
Credit Pass in Mathematics at KCE.
Exemptions
Strathmore DBIT graduates
• DBIT students who score an average
grade of credit and above in the DBIT
examinations are eligible for exemptions
when joining the BBIT course.
• DBIT exemption students receive up
to 21 unit exemptions in the BBIT
programme and join the course in 2nd
year 2nd semester for the fulltime BBIT
course and 2nd year 1st semester for the
evening BBITcourse.
• Exemptions and Credit Transfers are
granted at the discretion of the Academic
Council.
Intakes
• Fulltime course intake July
• Evening Course intake May
Entrance Examinations
Candidates are required to sit an General
Entrance Examination (GEE), which shall
consists of: Mathematics, English and finally an
Oral interview.
• Applicants should report to the University
by 8.00am on the day of the interview
and should bring:
• Three (3) passport-size photographs
• Original and photocopies of all relevant
academic and professional certificates
• Copy of the national ID/ birth bertificate/
passport
• Entrance Examination fee of KShs 600.
