AGENDA
Nomination of the President and of the Secretary of the Meeting
Francesco D’Alberti has proposed and the assembly has agreed, that the President and
the Secretary of the Meeting will be, respectively, Francesco D’Alberti and Pierre
Cantelaube.
PART 1: REPORT OF JAC ACTIVITIES IN 2004
1) Organization and social report, by Francesco D’Alberti (JAC president)
In 2004 the Club has prepared, for members and non-members, the
documents concerning responsibility of the Board related to JAC activities.
These documents are downloadable from the JAC web site
(http://jac.jrc.it/rules.htm) and must be signed by each member/nonmembers
participating to JAC activities.
During 2004 the Club has organized three public events: the first, jointly
with the Committee for the Irish Semester, was the invitation for a
slideshow of Mr. Dermot Somers, a famous Irish Alpinist. The second was
the invitation for a slideshow about the wilderness in Val Grande of Mrs.
Suzanne Lehringer, Institut für Landespflege. The third event, which has
been paid totally with the extra funding obtained by COPAS, was the
invitation for a slideshow of the famous alpinists Nives Meroi and Romano
Benet. All these events have been attended with enthusiasm by members
and many non members. For all the events a report has been prepared and
sent by Francesco D’Alberti to all the members.
The plan is to request to COPAS for 2004 at least the same money
requested and obtained in 2004: 1700,00 €
2) Membership report, by Pierre Cantelaube (JAC secretary)
In 2004, the Club counted 65 members (included 8 family members and 5 kids).
Comparing to the previous year, the JAC lost 9 members and got 10 new
members, thus increasing of 1 the number of members. It shows the stability in the
memberships, even if the JRC staff is subject to frequent changes at the Ispra site.
All JAC members are registered at either Sesto Calende or Varese CAI Sections,
with 3 exceptions: 2 members at others CAI Sections (Domodossola and Rimini)
and 1 member belonging to the French equivalent of CAI (CAF).
3) Financial report, by Annette Borowiak (JAC treasurer)
The JAC money in 2004 had the following movements:
OUT
675,00 € for Mr. Raimondo Minervino, the fitness trainer
92,00 € for the heating of the Palestra at the Club House
195,46 € for the air ticket of Mr. Dermot Somers (see point 1)
48,90 € for an ARVA repair
22,24 € for mountain maps
1500,00 for Nives Meroi and Romano Benet conference (see point 1)
2215.33 for CAI memberships
263,00 € for bank account expenditure
TOTAL 5011,93 €
IN
1700,00 € from COPAS as regular contribution to JAC activities
75,00 € from the Association Natura Nostra (for a 2003 co-operation)
2290,00 € from the members’fees
1500,00 € from COPAS as extraordinary contribution for Meroi’s event
TOTAL 5565,00 €
BALANCE: 553,07 €.
4) Walking Activity, report by Rudolf Hummel (JAC coordinator), absent and
read by Francesco D’Alberti.
Nothing was organized during 2004.
5) Equipment, report by Jean Michel Terres (JAC coordinator)
Nothing was bought during 2004 until today, but 1 beeper (ARVA) was repaired.
J.M. Terres, takes the opportunity of this meeting to recall that members must pay
attention to the materials they borrow. On this topic, the existing registry for
material hiring must duly be filled in.
Action: all members are requested to fill in the registry and to borrow the material
only for the time needed (i.e. not to forget it home…).
A question came out also from the discussion: Shall JAC board protect itself for
the responsibility for materials (as it was done for tours organization). Francesco
D’Alberti reminds that this aspect is already covered and included in the
documents issued in 2004 (see point 1).
It was also decided to replace the climbing ropes, because they are getting old.
Action: J.M. Terres will buy the ropes as soon as possible.
6) Gymnastic and Web Site, report by Julian Wilson (JAC coordinator), absent
and read by Francesco D’Alberti.
Training sessions ran from Nov 4th 2003 - April 4th 2004, every Tuesday from
18.15-19.45 in the palestra of the Club House. We began without a trainer due to
Alessandra having commitments at her new palestra. I would like to thank both
Frederic Achard & Philippe Loudjani for being substitute trainers, until we found
Raimondo in December. Raimondo proved a very effective trainer developing a
programme that was well adapted to our needs and skill levels, and this was
reflected in the numbers of members participating (typically had 20-25 each
session). For the 2004-5 season we have the time (18.00-20.00) and lessons began
on Oct 19th. Raimondo has proposed that we purchase 20 x elastic cords and
materials for approximately 5 obstacles to a max cost of 250 euro for the
gymnastics this year.
Report on the Web site: now hosted by me, same form as before but added
activities & events pages, can members send me things to put on these!
Once again my apologies for my absence, I am willing to continue on the JAC
board and I hope the AGM is a success.
Action: Julian Wilson will buy the material needed by the end of 2004.
7) AOB, report by JAC Board members
Seven JAC members have participated to courses organized by different CAIs of
the area, such as ski-alpinism courses or off-piste ski. Those courses were
announced to members through the JAC mailing lists.
PART 2: OPEN DISCUSSION
a. Material to buy. It was proposed and agreed to buy avalanche sticks and nonplastic
shovels in the same number of the beepers (ARVAs) already present.
Action: J.M. Terres will buy the sticks and shovels by the end of 2004.
b. A member introduced the idea of the new “avalanche paraglide” (airbag),
even if the rest of the participants were not convinced by this idea. It was
planned nevertheless to get information on that.
Action: D. Tirelli will look for this information and report to the Board.
c. Training to organize. Some members asked about the opportunity to organize
(through the CAI) specific courses for JAC members, notably about snow
search of ski-alpinists, alpinists on avalanche, uses of beepers, techniques for
crevasses, etc.. These courses could be specifically organized if there is not yet
one organized by CAI Sections in their annual programs or if there is a
conspicuous number of requests by members.
Action: F. D’Alberti will send a request to all members for their interest in
participating to such course. He will also keep informed the members about
existing courses by CAI.
d. Stefan Niemeyer (through a letter) introduced the idea to involve the Club in
humanitarian activities linked to mountain population (such as Tibetan
children).
Action: S. Niemeyer will report to the Board more in detail on this issue, with
practical proposals
e. “Gita sociale”. It was decided to organize one (at least) yearly “Gita sociale”
(social mountain trip) for the Club members. It appears that Alpe Devero (a
hut there is managed by CAI Sesto Calende) is a perfect place for the first gita
sociale. Daniel Tirelli is volunteer of its organization, which will take place
during 2005.
Action: D. Tirelli will organize the gita and will report as soon as possible to
the Board the details of his organization. All members are invited to submit to
D. Tirelli their proposals, bearing in mind that proposals mean active
contribution in organization.
f. Tiago Pedrosa proposes to buy an “avalung”, an equipment for breathing
under an avalanche. Nobody knows much of it.
Action: T. Pedrosa will look for information and report to the Board (in the
while such information has arrived and can be seen on: www.avalung.com/buried/;
www.bdel.com/gear/backcountry/avalung_ii.php; www.avalung.com. The approximate price
is 100 US $)
Action: the Board will evaluate whether to buy it this year or next one.
g. JAC mailing list: Jan Kucera asks whether JAC members can access the
mailing list. Due to spamming problems the mailing list is accessible only by
the Board members. Any member interested in sending an e-mail to the other
members will simply submit it to the Board, and it will be immediately (after
check) be sent to all members.
Action: Board members to agree an easy way to forward e-mails from the
members to all members.
PART 3: VOTING FOR NEW FEES, JAC BOARD AND AUDITORS FOR 2005
1) The membership fees for 2005 are proposed to be the same as 2004 if there will be
less than 2 € increase in the CAI membership, otherwise the JAC membership will
be increased by 5 €. The final costs will be as follows:
Single regular member (2 € CAI
increase)
€ 25 / 30 €
For single member add € 5 for CAI Sesto or € 10 for CAI
Varese/other CAIs
€ 5 or € 10
Couple of regular members € 50
Kid (< 18 years) € 15
Fitness Training with teacher € 20
Fitness Training without teacher € 10
The proposed fees were agreed by unanimous vote.
Action: F. D’Alberti will communicate to the members the new definitive fees at
the beginning of 2005.
2) During the meeting, Francesco D’Alberti reported that Rudolf Hummel and Claus
Busse announced their intention to leave the JAC Board at the end of 2004, while
they will remain JAC members. All the other Board members agreed to remain in
the Board for 2005. Frederic Achard has accepted to become Vice-President. A
call for volunteers was made during the assembly and Jan Kucera and Jed Kaplan
were welcome in the Board. Daniel Tirelli, as responsible for the library for
several years, was also welcome in the Board.
The Board for 2005 was thus elected at unanimous vote and will be as follows:
President:
Vice-President:
Secretariat:
Treasurer:
Board members:
Francesco D’Alberti
Frédéric Achard
Pierre Cantelaube
Jan Kucera: Climbing coordinator
Jean-Michel Terres: Equipment, Ski Mountaineering
Julian Wilson: Gymnastic coordinator, Web Site
Daniel Tirelli: Library
Jed Kaplan: Walking activities (as soon as Jed will have
enrolled in the JAC, his formal appointment as co-ordinator of this
activity will be given in written by the JAC President)
Action: P. Cantelaube will give access to the mailing list to the new Board
members and will cancel the access to Claus Busse and Rudolf Hummel as from
1 st January 2005.
3) The Auditors (“Revisori dei conti”) for 2005 will be the volunteers Joel
Daroussin and Beata Houskova.
