New leaders join the CICA board
Joining the CICA board of directors
as vice-chair is Douglas N. Baker,
FCA. Baker has held senior financial
positions in various oil and gas
exploration companies for the past
23 years. During the past nine years,
Benedetti takes over the position of chair from David A. Hope,
FCA, who has completed a successful two-year term focused
on reinforcing synergy and collaboration within the profession,
ensuring that standard-setting activities acknowledge, anticipate
and respond to market changes and deepening the profession’s
involvement in international affairs.

MIA 20th Annual General Meeting: Six New Members Elected As Council Members
The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) announced the
Accountants Act 1967.

the conclusion of the Institute’s 20th Annual General Meeting
(AGM) on 23 September 2006.
The Accountant-General’s office informed the Institute that the
Minister of Finance has appointed; Mr. Michael Eow Kwan Hoong,
President of CIMA Malaysia Division and YBhg Dato’ Nordin
Abdul Halim Husin, Chen Voon Hann, Lam Kee Soon, Dato’
Raymond Liew, Dr. Thillaisundaram a/l Arumugam and Yeo Tek
Baharuddin, Vice President of MICPA as Council members of
MIA with effect from 1st September 2006.
