the moving statues of Charlie Fletcher’s Stoneheart. By turns amusing, thrilling<br />

Harris Finds His Feet<br />

with Catherine Rayner<br />

Augustus and His Smile heralded the arrival of one of the most talented young<br />

children’s book illustrators in the UK. Come and hear Catherine Rayner talk about<br />

her new friend Harris the hare and create your own creatures in this friendly,<br />

interactive workshop.<br />

The Hidden Secrets of your Favourite Stories<br />

Cinderella is based on a Chinese tale over one thousand years old. Star Wars was<br />

inspired by one of the world’s oldest tales. Harry Potter is a boy wizard, but what was the<br />

first boy wizard story Literary detective Nury Vittachi tracks down the origins of today’s<br />

best-known stories and creates new legends in this fascinating, interactive event.<br />

Can you believe that everyone’s favourite puppy is celebrating his 18th birthday<br />

This lively event is chock-full of games and stories, but the icing on the cake is a<br />

Meg Rosoff<br />

Fantastic storyteller Meg Rosoff returns to the festival with her latest book.<br />

What I Was is the story of a boy at a bleak boarding school by the sea who finds<br />

adventure and unexpected companionship one fateful summer. Meg will enchant<br />

young and old alike with this poignant and haunting portrait of friendship with a<br />

surprising twist in the tale!<br />

Where the Wild Things Are<br />

Come and hear Maurice Sendak’s classic tale of Max, King of the Wild Things, and then<br />

create your own monster crafts with artist Julie Dawson. Dress as a scary monster with<br />

gnashing teeth and slashing claws and let your imagination run wild…<br />
