PTFPST Fly Press Stand
Our sturdy stand was designed by John Crouchet (DVD5 How to
use a Fly Press) is manufactured at Pieh Tool Company from A36
steel. The legs are angled to give more stability and strength and
are made from 2” hot rolled steel welded tubing. The 1” welded
diagonal support bars on three sides provide the added strength
needed to handle the constant counter clockwise turning force of the
fly press. The front has a 1” cross section bar providing strength while
also allowing you to sit close to your press with legs underneath. The
front opening of the table allows for easy cleaning and room to keep
your tooling handy. The vertical welded 1-1/2” sections on three
sides keeps your tools safe from falling onto the floor. Fits our #5
and #6 presses. We recommend you bolt the stand to your floor. We
will modify the table top holes to accommodate other size presses on
request. Stand is left unpainted. Table Height: 31”; Table Size: 24 X

PTCFP-M Mushroom
Use underneath a leaf to provide a curved working
surface while using the veining chisel or ball punch.
The piece can be rocked on the mushroom to
create curved lines. Can be used at the anvil or fly
press. Made from low carbon steel and is soft (not
hardened) & can be hardened with Kasenit. (Item
#KSNT1-1) We left it soft so that the veining chisels
or ball punches would not be damaged. 3 1/2” OAH,
2-3/8” x 2”. Has a 1” shank.

Fly Press Stand
Used fly presses, with high quality screws that aren't
worn out, are hard to find. Many of the used machines
don't have a steep enough pitch to the screw. This means
that you must have multiple revolutions of the fly wheel.
Our presses are designed, from the ground up, for forging.
Note, the screw only requires a bump on the handle that
hangs down from the fly wheel.
For bigger jobs try a full revolution. You might need a full
revolution for hot bending a 2x4" piece of bar stock on
some of the smaller machines. This is a four lead screw
and the fly wheel on top sits on an octagonal screw
for positioning the handle to the most comfortable and
productive position.

The bolt holes are countersunk. The clamp plate
is necessary in order to use your fly press for
blacksmithing. The Hardie Bolster or Guided Bolster
is clamped to this plate with vise grips. 3/8 x 10 x 19”
