In 2004 Gene began making candle cups
out of type “K” copper pipe which has a wall
thickness of 1/16”, double that of type “M”
pipe. The thicker candle cups are more attractive in my opinion and,
when handled, have a nice feel to them. They are actually easier to
forge and produce due to the thicker wall. “Copper Candle Cups II”
has detailed explanations of methods, techniques and tooling used
to make candle cups out of the thicker wall type “K” pipe. Note: The
tooling for thicker wall type “K” pipe has different dimensions than
those for type “M” pipe.
