The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler
This is the compelling story of Polish Catholic social worker, Irena Sendler, one
of the most remarkable, and unlikely, heroes of World War II, saving 2,500 Jewish
children during the Nazi occupation of Poland. She led a group of compatriots
who moved in and out of Warsaw’s Jewish Ghetto dressed as nurses employed by
Warsaw’s Health Department. Realizing that thousands of children were in danger
of sure death, Irena recruited sympathetic friends to help her smuggle children
out and place them in safe homes, farms and convents. At great personal risk, she
devised extraordinary schemes to sneak the children by Nazi guards, bringing
them out in ambulances, suitcases and even wheelbarrows. Irena was eventually
captured by the Gestapo, but even after months of torture, she maintained her
silence. Her heroic efforts were honored by a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize
in 2007. Starring Anna Paquin, Goran Visnjic and Marcia Gay Harden.
our heroes in uniform sacrifice everything to protect. In honor of his son, Revere
embarks on a personal mission to reignite the latent patriotism and faith of his
fellow citizens and reassert the cherished rights guaranteed to all Americans.
