Padre Pro
Blessed Miguel Pro: Martyr of Mexico
This movie is the inspiring story of the famous Father Miguel
Pro, S.J., who was executed in Mexico in 1927 for the crime of
being a Catholic priest. This young Jesuit spent most of his
short life in the priesthood dodging the Mexican police as he
ministered to the underground Church during the Mexican
Revolution. Fr. Pro’s quick wit and keen sense of humor
were put to good use as he pedaled around Mexico City on
his bicycle in various disguises, en route to administering
the Sacraments, giving spiritual talks or begging food and
money for the poor. But behind the disguises beat the heart
of a saint—as the Mexican people testified by turning out in
throngs to pay their last respects after his martyrdom. Fr. Pro
offered his life for the Catholic Faith and his last words on this
earth were: “Viva Cristo Rey”—Long live Christ the King!
This powerful movie makes history come alive and highlights
the dramatic conflict between the Church and her
enemies that continues even to this day. An inspiring film for
the whole family, this is an incredible true story of a modern
Catholic hero who proclaimed both in life and death the reign
of Christ the King. In Spanish with English subtitles.
The Fugitive
When director John Ford and actor Henry Fonda collaborate,
audiences know they are in for a powerful screen
experience. To such films as The Grapes of Wrath, My Darling
Clementine and Fort Apache add this brave, unsparing, magnificently
lensed (by Mexico’s Gabriel Figueroa) work. Based
on Graham Greene’s novel The Power and the Glory, the story
follows a priest (Fonda) in Latin America pursued by a ruthless
police lieutenant carrying out the dictates of an oppressive,
anti-clerical government. There’s another fugitive as
well: an American killer on the run—and the paths of the
two hunted men cross with fateful consequences. A haunting
paean to the resilience of faith, The Fugitive remains a filmmaking
triumph.
The Greatest Miracle
rom the Producer of For Greater Glory, this is a beautiful,
Fanimated story about the power and impact of the grace
of God, and of unseen spiritual influences and events, in our
lives, especially in Church during our participation in the
Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It focuses on three characters and
their guardian angels, and how we all have the freedom to
choose to do good or evil, to pray, and the consequences from
our choices. It shows the great spiritual power of the sacrament
of Confession, and beautifully reveals the meaning and
importance of each aspect of the Mass, our greatest prayer
and miracle, through which we share in such close “communion”
with almighty God by receiving Jesus Christ in the
Holy Eucharist. This DVD contains the following language
options: English with dubbed Spanish.
