Henbury Lodge Hotel is a family run hotel so unlike some larger establishments, we offer a personal<br />

and professional service in an intim<strong>at</strong>e country house environment. We are also able to be as flexible<br />

as possible in order th<strong>at</strong> we meet all <strong>the</strong> requirements th<strong>at</strong> will make <strong>you</strong>r day perfect!<br />

Our elegant restaurant enjoys an excellent reput<strong>at</strong>ion locally and provides a relaxing <strong>at</strong>mosphere<br />

overlooking <strong>the</strong> garden to enjoy our locally sourced seasonal produce. Paul Bullard, our Head Chef,<br />

has prepared a range of sample menus which he would be delighted, by prior arrangement, to discuss<br />

with <strong>you</strong>.<br />

We can c<strong>at</strong>er <strong>for</strong> a maximum of 34 <strong>for</strong> a sit down meal and up to 70 <strong>for</strong> a buffet.<br />

There is a Room Hire Charge of £100.00 <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> priv<strong>at</strong>e use of <strong>the</strong> restaurant.<br />

BOOKING DETAILS<br />

Provisional Bookings<br />

Provisional Bookings will be held <strong>for</strong> seven days only. If in this time <strong>you</strong> have not confirmed <strong>you</strong>r<br />

booking and an <strong>enquiry</strong> comes in <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> same d<strong>at</strong>e we will contact <strong>you</strong> and give <strong>you</strong> <strong>the</strong> option of<br />

securing <strong>you</strong>r booking.<br />

Bookings:<br />

All bookings will be considered provisional. In order to secure <strong>you</strong>r booking we will require a nonrefundable<br />

deposit of £250 and <strong>you</strong> will <strong>the</strong>n receive a confirm<strong>at</strong>ion and a signed copy of our Terms<br />

and Conditions.<br />

Cancell<strong>at</strong>ion:<br />

Should <strong>you</strong> cancel <strong>you</strong>r event <strong>you</strong> will autom<strong>at</strong>ically lose <strong>you</strong>r deposit <strong>for</strong> all o<strong>the</strong>r cancell<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

charges please see our Terms and Conditions.<br />

Room Hire:<br />

There is a Room Hire Charge of £100.00 <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> priv<strong>at</strong>e use of <strong>the</strong> Restaurant. A daytime and<br />

evening <strong>function</strong> will be double <strong>the</strong> room hire charge.<br />

Service Charge:<br />

A discretionary service charge of 10% will be added to <strong>the</strong> final bill.<br />

A BRIEF HISTORY OF HENBURY LODGE HOTEL<br />

Henbury Lodge Hotel almost certainly started life as two cottages around <strong>the</strong> year 1600. It remained<br />

as such until 1712 when it appears to have been combined into one dwelling.<br />

A Kips drawing of <strong>the</strong> area d<strong>at</strong>ed 1730 shows a large two-story house of Tudor style.<br />

During <strong>the</strong> next few decades <strong>the</strong> building underwent some interesting changes and <strong>the</strong> City archivist<br />

d<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> front conversion to a Palladian Georgian mansion of three storey’s around 1760. In or<br />

around 1800 <strong>the</strong> staircase and dining room were added and <strong>the</strong> stable block and ‘model laundry’<br />

around 1808.<br />

The original copper boiler from <strong>the</strong> laundry, made in 1808 by Bush of Bristol, is now in <strong>the</strong> Bristol<br />

museum and several fixtures and fittings from <strong>the</strong> old Kitchen <strong>at</strong> Henbury are to be found in Blaise<br />

Museum, only a stroll from <strong>the</strong> hotel. Henbury Lodge, over <strong>the</strong> years, has been occupied and visited<br />

by some notable personages but none more so than Edmund Burke (1729-1797) <strong>the</strong> British st<strong>at</strong>esman<br />

who represented Bristol as a Member of Parliament from which he enjoyed <strong>the</strong> vista across <strong>the</strong> open<br />

fields (alas now long gone). There is a small plaque to identify wh<strong>at</strong> is believed to be <strong>the</strong> window.<br />

The House has always been well loved by past occupants and it is somehow fitting th<strong>at</strong> it should<br />

continue its role of hospitality as a small and friendly Hotel. The Hotel is now owned by Tim &<br />

Rosalind Forester who have endeavored to retain <strong>the</strong> true character of <strong>the</strong> property and to ensure th<strong>at</strong><br />

it loses nothing of <strong>the</strong> warmth and feeling of its 350 year history. The house has been a focal point<br />

of <strong>the</strong> borough of Henbury since <strong>the</strong> year 1600 and we feel sure th<strong>at</strong> Henbury Lodge Hotel as it is<br />

now will have a similarly valuable role to play within Bristol <strong>for</strong> many years to come.<br />

In 2009 <strong>the</strong> hotel was accepted into <strong>the</strong> <strong>Best</strong> <strong>Western</strong> marketing consortium which is a group of<br />

independently owned and managed hotels, each with its own charm and character.


THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY TO ALL FUNCTIONS HOSTED<br />

AT BEST WESTERN HENBURY LODGE HOTEL<br />

1. There is a non-refundable deposit of £250 and a credit card number required to<br />

secure <strong>the</strong> venue.<br />

2. Children under nine are charged <strong>at</strong> 50% of full person r<strong>at</strong>e.<br />

3. Guest bedrooms will only be secured with a 25% deposit or a credit card to<br />

guarantee. Any rooms not secured 6 weeks be<strong>for</strong>e <strong>the</strong> wedding will be released.<br />

4. Bride and Groom are responsible <strong>for</strong> wedding guests and <strong>the</strong>ir behavior.<br />

5. All food, wine and drinks are supplied by <strong>the</strong> hotel. The hotel does not permit<br />

corkage, except by prior arrangement.<br />

6. The final balance must be settled on departure.<br />

7. Final numbers should be given 14 days prior to <strong>the</strong> wedding and this will be <strong>the</strong><br />

number invoiced regardless of any persons not arriving on <strong>the</strong> day. Any increase in<br />

numbers will be charged as extra.<br />

8. We regret having to en<strong>for</strong>ce a cancell<strong>at</strong>ion policy and strongly advise taking out a<br />

independent insurance policy to cover any possible losses.<br />

9. In <strong>the</strong> event of cancell<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>you</strong>r deposit is non-refundable and <strong>the</strong> following charges<br />

are made:<br />

5 months notice - 20% of confirmed reserv<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

4 months notice - 30% of confirmed reserv<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

3 months notice - 40% of confirmed reserv<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

2 months notice - 50% of confirmed reserv<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

1 months notice - 75% of confirmed reserv<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

15. All public areas and bedrooms are non smoking in accordance with legisl<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
