Thank you for your enquiry regarding a function at the Best Western Henbury Lodge Hotel. I have 

pleasure in enclosing our wedding & function brochure with the various menu options we offer. 

Henbury Lodge Hotel is a family run hotel so unlike some larger establishments, we offer a personal 

and professional service in an intimate country house environment. We are also able to be as flexible 

as possible in order that we meet all the requirements that will make your day perfect! 

Our elegant restaurant enjoys an excellent reputation locally and provides a relaxing atmosphere 

overlooking the garden to enjoy our locally sourced seasonal produce. Paul Bullard, our Head Chef, 

has prepared a range of sample menus which he would be delighted, by prior arrangement, to discuss 

with you. 

We can cater for a maximum of 34 for a sit down meal and up to 70 for a buffet. 

There is a Room Hire Charge of £100.00 for the private use of the restaurant. 

Please contact the hotel regarding minimum numbers. 

Please note a daytime and evening function will be double the room hire charge.

BOOKING DETAILS 

Provisional Bookings 

Provisional Bookings will be held for seven days only. If in this time you have not confirmed your 

booking and an enquiry comes in for the same date we will contact you and give you the option of 

securing your booking. 

Bookings: 

All bookings will be considered provisional. In order to secure your booking we will require a nonrefundable 

deposit of £250 and you will then receive a confirmation and a signed copy of our Terms 

and Conditions. 

Cancellation: 

Should you cancel your event you will automatically lose your deposit for all other cancellation 

charges please see our Terms and Conditions. 

Room Hire: 

There is a Room Hire Charge of £100.00 for the private use of the Restaurant. A daytime and 

evening function will be double the room hire charge. 

Service Charge: 

A discretionary service charge of 10% will be added to the final bill. 

Prices: 

Please note that prices may be subject to change, and are correct at time of going to print. 

Numbers: 

Final guest numbers and full details are to be confirmed two weeks prior to your function.

Our Head Chef is more than happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements or specific 

menu ideas you may have. All special requirements need to be confirmed 14 days prior to your

A BRIEF HISTORY OF HENBURY LODGE HOTEL 

Henbury Lodge Hotel almost certainly started life as two cottages around the year 1600. It remained 

as such until 1712 when it appears to have been combined into one dwelling. 

A Kips drawing of the area dated 1730 shows a large two-story house of Tudor style. 

During the next few decades the building underwent some interesting changes and the City archivist 

dated the front conversion to a Palladian Georgian mansion of three storey’s around 1760. In or 

around 1800 the staircase and dining room were added and the stable block and ‘model laundry’ 

around 1808. 

The original copper boiler from the laundry, made in 1808 by Bush of Bristol, is now in the Bristol 

museum and several fixtures and fittings from the old Kitchen at Henbury are to be found in Blaise 

Museum, only a stroll from the hotel. Henbury Lodge, over the years, has been occupied and visited 

by some notable personages but none more so than Edmund Burke (1729-1797) the British statesman 

who represented Bristol as a Member of Parliament from which he enjoyed the vista across the open 

fields (alas now long gone). There is a small plaque to identify what is believed to be the window. 

The House has always been well loved by past occupants and it is somehow fitting that it should 

continue its role of hospitality as a small and friendly Hotel. The Hotel is now owned by Tim & 

Rosalind Forester who have endeavored to retain the true character of the property and to ensure that 

it loses nothing of the warmth and feeling of its 350 year history. The house has been a focal point 

of the borough of Henbury since the year 1600 and we feel sure that Henbury Lodge Hotel as it is 

now will have a similarly valuable role to play within Bristol for many years to come. 

In 2009 the hotel was accepted into the Best Western marketing consortium which is a group of 

independently owned and managed hotels, each with its own charm and character.

THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY TO ALL FUNCTIONS HOSTED 

AT BEST WESTERN HENBURY LODGE HOTEL 

1. There is a non-refundable deposit of £250 and a credit card number required to 

secure the venue. 

2. Children under nine are charged at 50% of full person rate. 

3. Guest bedrooms will only be secured with a 25% deposit or a credit card to 

guarantee. Any rooms not secured 6 weeks before the wedding will be released. 

4. Bride and Groom are responsible for wedding guests and their behavior. 

5. All food, wine and drinks are supplied by the hotel. The hotel does not permit 

corkage, except by prior arrangement. 

6. The final balance must be settled on departure. 

7. Final numbers should be given 14 days prior to the wedding and this will be the 

number invoiced regardless of any persons not arriving on the day. Any increase in 

numbers will be charged as extra. 

8. We regret having to enforce a cancellation policy and strongly advise taking out a 

independent insurance policy to cover any possible losses. 

9. In the event of cancellation your deposit is non-refundable and the following charges 

are made: 

5 months notice - 20% of confirmed reservation 





15. All public areas and bedrooms are non smoking in accordance with legislation.
