6. Wipe down piston rod with denatured alcohol after rod installation.<br />

7. Clean head-end head or unloader components and steel gaskets with denatured alcohol.<br />

Do not use anti-seize compounds on the head-end head steel-gasket. Use a very thin<br />

film of oil when installing o-rings. Grease VVCP unloader stem threads at the grease fitting<br />

with 2 to 3 pumps of multi-purpose grease using a standard hand pump grease gun.<br />

Wipe off any excess grease on the exterior.<br />

8. Compressor valves are provided from the manufacturer cleaned and preserved, and<br />

suitable for non-lube service. Valves need no additional cleaning, provided they are<br />

sealed in their original packaging and have not been contaminated.<br />

9. Clean valve retainers, high clearance assemblies, valve caps and steel gaskets with<br />

denatured alcohol. Use only a very thin film of oil for valve cap o-rings. Do not lubricate<br />

valve steel-gaskets.<br />

10.Assemble cleaned parts immediately, using clean gloves, to avoid contamination and<br />

corrosion. If cylinder will not see immediate service, see the <strong>Ariel</strong> Packager’s Standards,<br />

appendix, available on the <strong>Ariel</strong> Web site, www.arielcorp.com or contact <strong>Ariel</strong> for preservation<br />

instructions to<br />

ER-34.<br />

Use a small amount of Loctite 565 Pipe Sealant on male threads when installing pipe plugs.<br />

Use Never-Seez, Regular Grade when tightening the crosshead-balance nut in the usual<br />

manner.<br />

DANGER: Do not use <strong>Ariel</strong> non-lube compressor cylinders for oxygen service.<br />
