FOR MODELS: JGZ AND JGU SECTION 5 - MAINTENANCE
5. Install a new square key, 3/8 x 2 inches (9.38 x 50.8 mm) long, after first checking
to make sure the key will fit into the new sprocket. If the key is too thick, it
can be polished with an emery cloth on a flat surface until it can easily slide into
the notch. It may also be a little high and require filing of the top edge.
6. Install a new sprocket and adjust the distance between the sprocket and the
adapter outer surface to the previous measurement. When it is correctly positioned,
tighten the set screws.
7. Install a new gasket. Before reinstalling the pump, apply a thin coating of antiseize
lubricant to the gasket surfaces. This will aid in easy removal at a later
date.
8. Reinstall the pump onto the end cover and check the alignment with the other
sprockets using a straight edge.
9. Reinstall chain, and adjust the chain according to the instructions in “Chain
Adjustment” on Page 5-31. Reinstall the piping at the pump. Refill the crankcase
with the proper oil.
Force Feed Lubricator Chain Sprocket Replacement
1. Remove bolting and rotate eccentric adjusting cap on the chain idler to loosen
chain. Remove chain. With a good machinist rule, measure the exact distance
from the inside of the auxiliary end cover the near edge face of the chain
sprocket. Note the measurement for the proper positioning of the new sprocket.
Loosen the hex on the Fenner drive. Remove the sprocket and Fenner drive.
Detach all tubing to the lubricator.
2. Remove the four mounting bracket cap screws and remove the lubricator box.
3. When the lubricator box is removed, it is a good time to consider replacing the
shaft seal. Polish out any burrs on the shaft before installing a new seal.
4. With the lubricator box on the bench, apply new clean lubricating oil, same type
as is used in the frame, to a new o-ring and install it.
5. Disassemble Fenner drive, clean and inspect. Lubricate threads with new clean
lubricating oil, same type as is used in the frame, and reassemble the Fenner
