Does the helmet shell have to be hard or soft?<br />
The argument, the harder the shell and the safer the<br />
helmet, is not correct.<br />
It‘s still being prejudiced “only hard helmet shells are<br />
safe”, but that can be disproved by simple physical<br />
formulas.<br />
Spreading the impact energy is essential, not the<br />
hardness of the shell.<br />
It is surely right, that the helmet shell has to have a<br />
certain hardness and grater resistance to protect the<br />
head from hard impacts, AE from sliding on the asphalt.<br />
The keyword though, is spraining energy!<br />
In a soft outer-shell the molecules can move easy and<br />
therefore spread the energy equally to the surrounding<br />
molecules. The effect is that the impact energy<br />
is not concentrated onto a selected point, but rather<br />
spread onto a big surface and can therefore be decomposed<br />
much better. If the shell still breaks, more<br />
energy will be destroyed, thus this construction acts<br />
like a crush zone.<br />
Manufacturing a helmet shell:<br />
The classical construction consists of a so called Roving-Procedure<br />
(Fabrics are not merged AE not interwoven)<br />
or a Roving-Cut-Procedure, in which several<br />
fibreglasses are betted into a synthetic resin.<br />
Marushin uses the so called Forms with the RTM-Method<br />
(Resin-Transfer-Moulding).<br />
Special mats are woven out of different fabrics. Its<br />
layers are arranged according to the requirement of<br />
spraining the energy before they are being pressed in<br />
synthetic resin.<br />
Due to this method Marushin can spread the impact<br />
energy and reduce weight! This exonerates the<br />
cervical spine.

vertebra to the centre of the head, height of the ear.<br />
The faster the movement/acceleration or the heavier<br />
the helmet, the more strength/energy will be needed<br />
to hold the head onto the spine. Thus a light helmet<br />
has two big advantages:<br />
1. The wearing comfort increases extremely, since<br />
the neck muscles are being exonerated due to the<br />
low weight of the helmet when decelerate and accelerate<br />
on long tours.<br />
2. The reduction of weight compensates the egg.<br />
insufficient strength of the neck muscles when decelerate<br />
strongly, AE when collide and thus reduces the<br />
cervical vertebra injury.

a perfect name for a helmet brand. The Maru shall protect all customers of Marushin<br />
helmets and keep away harm in combination with the newest technologies.<br />
In japan it is tradition not to talk about special achievements. let us make an exception<br />
here. Marushin brings you products with an incredible price-performance relation<br />
in each sector. That Marushin helmets are produced innovatively with highest<br />
machining quality in handfinish for individualists, you already knew. In the beginning<br />
Marushin helmets have only been distributed in Japan.<br />
In the late 80‘s this changed, when the german business man Ullrich holzhausen<br />
discovered the potential of the japanese brand. After Watanabe Shin died, his son<br />
sold the brand with all the tools and machinery to Mr. holzhausen, the founder of the<br />
JF Motorsport gmbh, a big motorcycle accessoires wholesaler in europe. The brand<br />
was able to establish quickly into the european market, because of the high quality<br />
standard and good comfort, combined with a real high level of engagement in the<br />
professional bike scene.<br />
The passion of Mr. holzhausen to motorsport built the bridge to many successfull<br />
racer sponsorings and a successfull time in many racing series. With racer like Edwin<br />
Weibel, Jochen Schmid and Christer lindholm Marushin was able to win the Pro<br />
Superbike title eight times out of ten. Marushin also supported Katja Poensgen from<br />
her early years on until she was the first woman to ride a 250ccm bike in the world<br />
championship. Also young riders and rookies have been granted great support by<br />
Marushin, not only in the motorcycle scene, but also kart riders, which have now<br />
entered the formula series. After 50 years of developing and selling helmets we can<br />
look back and be proud. Marushin has always been a precursor in quality standards<br />
and has never entered the war of prices and dumping.<br />
