Mr. Jan Ratelband. In 1993 teh glider was sold to Mr. L. de Beukelaar and Mr. P. van Gastel who<br />

started flying with the glider at EHWO (Woensdrecht Airforce Base). In 2002 the group of owners<br />

was extended with Mr. M. Baltussen and a complete refinish is done by Glider Service - Franc<br />

Novak in Slovenia.<br />

History Originally the glider was owned in Finland where it seems to have lead a rather neglected life as a<br />

result of which the gel coat was ruined in a few years. The glider was imported into the UK in<br />

1993 to Saltby. The gel on the wings was completely shot and some one had had a go at repainting<br />

by hand that had made the finish even worse! When we bought the glider in 1997 we had the<br />

wings done first by Andy Lincoln who did a brilliant job on them. He had some difficulties<br />

especially with things like the mass balance on the control surfaces. He did the fusalage & tail the<br />

next year and again did an absolutely top job on that. Again he had problems with the mass<br />

balances and we concluded that they had probably never actually been in spec! - something I think<br />

other VTC built owners should be aware of.<br />

Now that the cockpit has also been redone it is looking something like it should. I still need to do<br />

some work on the sealing etc to get the best out of it, but it is getting there.<br />

December 1972. Exported to Belgium in mid 1980's. Re-registered in Belgium as 00-ZGL.<br />

Imported to England 1998, re-registered in UK in November 1998 as BGA4609, Tail ID: JLX<br />

Glider appears to have parts from another glider: the wings and tail have ID G39. This I am told<br />

means they are from a glider made by VTC (G as a prefix). Logbook shows a groundloop accident<br />

where tail was snapped off, and the join can be seen if you look carefully.<br />

Currently based at Talgarth Airfield in the Welsh Black Mountains, one of the best UK<br />

ridge/wave sites.<br />

History This <strong>Standard</strong> <strong>Cirrus</strong> was bought in the early 70s for the "Akademische Fliegergruppe" by<br />

the Goettingen University sports department. Due to quite harsh rules for becoming a<br />

<strong>Cirrus</strong> pilot in the club it was nearly out of use for many years, resulting in only 3000<br />

hours in 30 years.<br />

In the last two years the regulations have been changed and our <strong>Cirrus</strong> has immediately<br />

become the glider that is used most often after the club's double seater.<br />

This glider was imported in 1979 to South Africa.<br />

On 16 February 1992, the glider was involved in a fatal accident - written off completely. The<br />

pilot, Mr. Andy Huges, was instantly killed after entering an incipient spin while turning finals.<br />

The cockpit was virually destroyed during the impact with a tree, the left wing was broken in two,<br />

the right wing had substantial damage at the root, the compression strut was bent and the tail in<br />

front of the fin broken off.<br />

The wreck was bought by the Jonker brothers, repairs started in 1997 and the first flight after the<br />

repair was done on the 5th of December 1998.<br />

History This particular glider has a noteworthy history Manufactured in 1970 and<br />

imported into the Republic of Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe)<br />

arriving in October 1970. It was flown competitively by Ed Pearson.<br />

Overhauled and refinished (including new canopy) by Jonker Sailplanes.<br />

#57 is known as "Clickety Click" - The contest number "66" is a<br />

reference to his predilection for playing Bingo, the dice combination<br />

of double six being called clickety click.<br />

Her log books show many pioneering flights of 500km and longer.<br />

In 1972 66 arrived in Bloemfontein, South Africa, and spent until 1975 commuting<br />

between Salisbury (Now Harare) and Bloemfontein. No flights are recorded from<br />

July 1974 to June 1975 when a syndicate of Messrs D J Boome, G R Henderson and S<br />

P P Thomas started flying from Potchefstroom. Again no flying is recorded<br />

between December 1977 and November 1982. Here Dick Gonlag took over and started<br />

flying from Donaldson Dam.<br />

Dick Gonlag raced her between 1982 and 86, with A Graham and L Bornman joining<br />

him in the syndicate. They sold her to a syndicate of wealthy would be glider<br />

pilots in 1996. The purchasers being Wayne McCurrie and Andrew Jenkins at Parys<br />

where she was returned to flying in 1997. I took over Andrew's share in 2003,<br />

and in 2005 she took part in a regional contest for the first time in many<br />

years. (Virtually no-one knew me, but at least three people exclaimed about<br />

Clickety Click being back!)<br />

Unfortunately only Dick Gonlag kept accurate records of distance flown, with him<br />

Clickety Click has done three Diamond Goals flights and three gold distances. I<br />

am informed that Ed Pearson won at national level with her, and others have<br />

competed in her at various regionals, but at this stage we don't have details<br />
