<strong>Gazelle</strong> equals cycling. For many Dutch generations, uncertainly swerving on an old<br />
<strong>Gazelle</strong> has been the way to learn how to ride a bike. Our company has been established<br />
in the beautiful Dutch ‘Veluwe’ region for almost 120 years. The <strong>Gazelle</strong> brand was<br />
derived from an animal species often spotted in this area − the roe (deer), symbol of<br />
elegance, nimbleness and flexibility. At our company’s centenary we were granted the<br />
‘Royal’ designation, a crowning glory for our long-time efforts.<br />
Safe, healthy and environment friendly<br />
Bicycles are among the healthiest and cleanest means of transportation in themselves.<br />
However, our dedication to health and environment issues stretches even further than that.<br />
We use water based paints only and our packaging and promotion materials are made<br />
out of FSC certified paper. Besides partnering in Veilig Verkeer Nederland (road safety)<br />
and Natuurmonumenten (nature preservation) <strong>Gazelle</strong> sponsors various charity organisations,<br />
including Alpe d’HuZes, an annual cycling event aimed at collecting money for KWF<br />
Kankerbestrijding (anti-cancer society).<br />

Our efforts to make your cycling even greater are often rewarded with nominations and<br />
awards. In the Reader’s Digest research for European Brands, <strong>Gazelle</strong> is a firm number 1 for<br />
Most Trusted Brand. The best Dutch bicycle of the year award has been ours on numerous<br />

Adjusted to your requirements<br />
You can enjoy your bicycle most when it is tailored to<br />
you. Every human body is different. Besides frame size,<br />
proper adjustment of saddle, handlebar and grips is<br />
extremely important. For comfortable cycling, also on<br />
longer trips, you need to be able to choose between<br />
different seating positions. <strong>Gazelle</strong> offers you the<br />
benefit of easy individual adjustment at all points<br />
where the bicycle supports your body.<br />
The correct cycling position<br />
The geometry of our bikes is keyed to the intended<br />
use. For short rides to school, work or supermarket, a<br />
relaxed upright cycling position is preferable in terms<br />
of comfort (A). For longer trips, daily commuting or<br />
touristic cycling it is more pleasant to bend forward a<br />
little. This position makes you faster and more versatile<br />
and keeps you from catching too much wind (B). If<br />
you’re the athletic type, a road racer or mountain bike<br />
will give you an even more sporty position (C).<br />
... Correct saddle<br />
<strong>Gazelle</strong> chooses saddles that are keyed to the intended use<br />
of the bicycle. A special vacuum moulding system assures<br />
that our saddles are 100% waterproof and have an average<br />
weight of minus 10% as opposed to standard saddles.<br />

... Safety locks<br />
All <strong>Gazelle</strong> city and hybrid bicycles are equipped<br />
with ART approved safety locks.<br />
... Solid kickstand<br />
<strong>Gazelle</strong> believes that a bicycle should stand steady.<br />
Our PowerClick kickstand has a wide swing and its<br />
length can be easily adjusted. It’s no coincidence<br />
that this clever component is famous in the market<br />
for its excellent functional qualities and beautiful<br />
design.

There are many features that distinguish a <strong>Gazelle</strong> from an ordinary bicycle. They include unique comfort enhancing components, like<br />
the fine SlimVision rear carrier and the FenderVision front light which was nominated for the Bicycle Innovation Awards. Besides that,<br />
some components awarded earlier have been further improved, such as the stem which is adjustable by hand, the bell which is<br />

... Adjustable grips and stem<br />
With a simple Allen key you can adjust the ergonomic<br />
<strong>Gazelle</strong> grips to your own requirements, even after many<br />
years of use. This feature allows you to prevent painful and<br />
tingling hands. For the stems there are three types of<br />
adjustability to choose from − with tools, by hand without<br />
parental lock (Shuttle) and by hand with parental lock<br />
(Switch).<br />
... Integrated lights<br />
<strong>Gazelle</strong> makes bicycle light systems much less vulnerable by<br />
integrating the front light into the front fork (InSight) or front<br />
mudguard (FenderVision). ClearVision and A-Vision are rear<br />
lights partially integrated into the rear carrier. SlimVision is a<br />
totally integrated rear light. This recent innovation makes for<br />
a solid and safe rear light system with the added benefit of<br />
sideways visibility.<br />
... Comfortable suspension<br />
Our suspension front fork can be easily adapted to your<br />
personal requirements by means of an adjusting knob that<br />
regulates damping. The suspension travel can also be quickly<br />
adjusted using an Allen key.<br />

The <strong>Gazelle</strong> Innergy sensor not only registers pedalling movement but also the<br />
pressure you apply to the pedals. This information is translated into fluent<br />
pedalling assistance without shocks or errors. Your <strong>Gazelle</strong> dealer can choose<br />
from 99 possible positions to adjust the degree of assistance to your personal<br />
preferences. In other words, pedalling assistance is every bit as adjustable as the<br />
handlebar, grips, suspension front fork and suspension seat post of your Innergy<br />
bicycle.<br />
Dutch Bicycle of the Year 2009<br />
The most eye catching element of the slim <strong>Gazelle</strong> Innergy bicycles might very<br />
well be that, in point of fact, they are not eye catching at all. The super compact<br />
engine is invisibly integrated into the hub of the front wheel. Similarly, the<br />
detachable battery is nicely integrated into the rear carrier. Even the operating<br />
display is only slightly larger than an ordinary bicycle computer. Yet a <strong>Gazelle</strong><br />
Innergy delivers up to two times your own pedalling force for over 50 – 75<br />
kilometres (31 – 46 miles). The Chamonix Innergy was awarded Dutch Bicycle<br />
of the Year 2009 for good reasons.<br />

<strong>Gazelle</strong> Innergy technology<br />
Extremely well balanced<br />
The Engineering and Design Teams of the <strong>Gazelle</strong> Innergy<br />
worked in close harmony. Positioning the engine in the front<br />
hub considerably improves driving characteristics. Firstly,<br />
because the weight is very well balanced and assures stable<br />
road-holding. Secondly, because with pedalling assistance<br />
switched on, both wheels are powered − the rear wheel by<br />
your own pedalling force, the front wheel by the brushless<br />
HR engine. Thirdly and finally, the clever engine position<br />
leaves enough room for a low maintenance closed chain<br />
case at the rear wheel.<br />
Detachable battery<br />
The battery in the carrier weighs only 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs) and is<br />
detachable. You can charge it wherever you want: in your<br />
garage, at home, or even in your car using a 12 volt converter.<br />
Without the battery, the Innergy hardly weighs more than an<br />
ordinary bicycle, which makes it up to 30% lighter than other<br />
E-bikes. As a result, taking your bike along on your car bike<br />
carrier, caravan or mobile home is no problem whatsoever.<br />
Lithium-Ion<br />
Lithium-Ion is the latest generation in rechargeable batteries.<br />
In spite of their small dimensions their energy capacity is huge.<br />
The CE approved battery can be fully recharged at least<br />
600 times, delivering a total of at least 30,000 kilometres’<br />
(18,600 miles’) worth of pedalling assistance. Other advantages<br />
include the fact that Lithium-Ion batteries do not contain<br />
environmentally unfriendly materials such as cadmium, lead<br />
or acids. Recharging is significantly quicker than with<br />
conventional batteries.<br />
Easy to operate display<br />
The display shows you, among other things, present speed,<br />
average speed and covered distance. Whilst riding it indicates<br />
remaining battery capacity as well. Battery capacity can also be<br />
checked by pushing the button on the rear light: the number<br />
of flashing LED lights is equal to the remaining battery capacity.<br />
Theft protection<br />
The battery is locked to the carrier. This special lock is operated<br />
with the same key you use for your wheel-lock. On top of that,<br />
the serial number of your battery is stored in the digital<br />
controller of your Innergy bicycle. This means that mere<br />
batteries are of no use to thieves. Should you have more than<br />
one Innergy bicycle in your household, you can have the serial<br />
numbers of up to four batteries programmed into your bicycle.
