and positive energy. Of course,<br />
<strong>the</strong> weekend was not complete<br />
without <strong>the</strong> singing of <strong>the</strong><br />

Carolyn Kozera Chlosta is retired<br />
from full-time elementary school<br />
teaching, but continues to enjoy<br />
mentoring new teachers. Residents<br />
of Sou<strong>the</strong>rn Maryland, south of<br />
Washington, D.C., she and her<br />
husband Norm will celebrate <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
43rd anniversary this year. They<br />
are <strong>the</strong> proud parents of three sons<br />
and two grandsons.<br />

hearing-impaired women and<br />

The Stevens Institute nominated<br />
Edith M. Flanigen for <strong>the</strong> Stevens<br />
Honor Award in recognition<br />
of her accomplishments and<br />
contribution to society. Founded<br />
in 1870 in Hoboken, N.J., Stevens<br />
is one of <strong>the</strong> leading technological<br />
universities in <strong>the</strong> country, offering<br />
bachelor, master and doctoral<br />
degrees. Unique to this school<br />
is its educational environment,<br />
called HYPERLINK, where<br />
students, faculty and industry<br />
jointly nurture new technologies<br />
from concept to marketplace<br />
realization.<br />
North Country<br />
Chapter<br />
The North Country Chapter meets<br />
annually and have done so for<br />
many years. At <strong>the</strong>ir meeting in<br />
May, at <strong>the</strong> University Inn, in<br />
Canton, N.Y., <strong>the</strong>y held a silent<br />
auction to raise funds, and ongoing<br />
effort in support of <strong>the</strong><br />
Judith Gotham Wagner/North<br />
Country Scholarship. The fall<br />
2006 luncheon will be held on<br />
October 7 at <strong>the</strong> Grand View<br />
Restaurant in Ogdensburg, N.Y.<br />
Rita Whalen ’73 and Mary Ann<br />
Perry ’74 are looking forward to<br />
meeting with area alums as well as<br />
representatives from <strong>the</strong> <strong>college</strong>.<br />
