Cheech went on to write, direct, and star in “Born in East L.A.” in 1987, which
won three awards at the Havana Film Festival and established him as a talented
filmmaker and sharp-witted social commentator.
His other film credits include “Desperado,” “From Dusk Till Dawn,” “Tin
Cup,” “Paulie,” “Luminarias,” the Robert Rodriguez trilogy “Spy Kids,” “Spy
Ferraris always get preferential treatment.
A triple threat as an actor/director/producer, Shalhoub is best known as
the obsessive compulsive detective hero of “Monk,” now in its fourth season on
actors working today.
Shalhoub’s television credits include the telefilm remakes of “Gypsy” and
“That Championship Season,” directed by Paul Sorvino. He was a series regular
on the sitcoms “Stark Raving Mad” and the long-running hit series “Wings.”
