LIEUTENANT COLONEL JAMES S. SMITH
Lt Col Smith is Commander of the 18 th Medical Support Squadron,
Kadena Air Base, Japan. He oversees business, administrative and
ancillary services in support of medical and dental care to over 17,000
enrolled beneficiaries. He directs a $52M budget, Medical Logistics,
Facility Management, TRICARE Operations & Patient Administration,
Information Services, Readiness, and Diagnostics & Therapeutics.
Lt Col Smith was a Forensic Clinical Psychologist for the state of Texas
prior to entering military service in 1998. He earned a Bachelor’s
degree from Texas A&M University, a Master of Arts degree and a
MBA from Midwestern State University. He is Certified with the
American Academy of Medical Administrators.
