Advantages in use of new technologies
• Electric power- new server system spends 40% less energy
• Communication- between participants in the election process is done electronically
• Executives- less executives will be needed in an election year
• Time - spent for solving requests of professional personnel is shortened
• Resources - cost saving for printer toners, paper, office supplies
• Space – Using state-of-art technologies decreases need for use of space- processing
is done by use of technology and there is no need for manual processing.
Disadvantages
• Introduction of new technology means constant voters’ education
• Increase in initial financial costs needed for procurement of equipment and
software applications
Design project – Integrated Election Information System of Bosnia and Herzegovina
IT support is vital in implementation of the Law under jurisdiction of the BiH Central
Election commission:
• BiH Election Law,
• Election Law of Brčko District of BiH,
• Law on political party financing,
• Law on conflict of interests in government institutions of BiH,
• Law on conflict of interests in government institutions of BiH Federation,
• Law on conflict of interests in institutions of Brčko District of BiH, and
• Law on Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The aim of the project is designing an integral software and hardware solution
for the BiH election system in general (BiH Central Election Commission, 140 municipal
election commissions, city election commission, political subjects which
there are more than 300, domestic and international election process observers,
media, the voters, etc).
