New technologies in elaboration and utilization of voters
registeres in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Article 1.4 of the BiH Election Law stipulates that every citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
who attained 18 years of age, has the right to vote and to be elected.
In order to exercise his/her right to vote, a citizen must be registered in the Central
Voters’ Register in accordance with this Law.
Central Voters’ Register (hereinafter CVR)
The Central Voters’ Register is made and kept based on official records on temporal
and permanent place of residence of BiH citizens, which are kept by a competent
body, but also based on other public documents, and data directly delivered
by citizens.
Central Voters’ Register is processed and kept electronically.
To be recorded in the Central Voters’ Register a person must:
• Have 18 years of age;
• Have BiH citizenship;
• Have permanent place of residence in BiH.
Excerpts from the CVR are made for following voters’ categories:
• Voters voting at regular polling stations
