New technologies in elaboration and utilization of voters<br />

registeres in Bosnia and Herzegovina<br />

Article 1.4 of the BiH Election Law stipulates that every citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina,<br />

who attained 18 years of age, has the right to vote and to be elected.<br />

In order to exercise his/her right to vote, a citizen must be registered in the Central<br />

Voters’ Register in accordance with this Law.<br />

Central Voters’ Register (hereinafter CVR)<br />

The Central Voters’ Register is made and kept based on official records on temporal<br />

and permanent place of residence of BiH citizens, which are kept by a competent<br />

body, but also based on other public documents, and data directly delivered<br />

by citizens.<br />

Central Voters’ Register is processed and kept electronically.<br />

To be recorded in the Central Voters’ Register a person must:<br />

• Have 18 years of age;<br />

• Have BiH citizenship;<br />

• Have permanent place of residence in BiH.<br />

Excerpts from the CVR are made for following voters’ categories:<br />

• Voters voting at regular polling stations
