Ladies and gentlemen!
Dear Conference Participants!
First of all I would like to express my appreciation for invitation to the conference
and for opportunity to speak.
The CIS Executive Committee has organized the work of fifty one CIS Election
Observation Missions in all countries of the Commonwealth since 2001, organizing
and coordinating election observation on behalf of the Heads of CIS States,
involving more than 10 000 people.
And what is the most important is that all States - CIS members collaborate actively
in this area. Furthermore, the Election Observation Mission includes representatives
of the Interparliamentary Assembly of States - CIS participants, representatives
of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union, representatives
the Parliamentary Assembly of EurAsEC.
Today, there is an Election Observation Institute in the Commonwealth of Independent
States. It works stably and is able to monitor objectively the electoral
process and to evaluate results of elections. The Mission of CIS observers has
become an integral part of international monitoring system of electoral processes
taking place in states and an effective form of political cooperation.
It was approved also by the Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth, who discussed
the Mission issue twice in the last year. We highly appreciate the fact that
the Council of Foreign Ministers gave a positive assessment to the Mission’s work
