highlighted in this year’s ‘Sungai Bedil Food Festival<br />

2012’, as part of the Lan Berambeh @ Sungai Bedil<br />

Festival. Visi<strong>to</strong>rs can experience the local food and<br />

atmosphere. Modern Malay villages that showcase<br />

authentic culture and heritage <strong>to</strong> <strong>to</strong>urists. Visi<strong>to</strong>rs will<br />

be able <strong>to</strong> watch demonstrations of how traditional<br />

delicacies like Kuih Rangin and Celerot are made and also<br />

get <strong>to</strong> sample the village’s iconic Cendol dessert.<br />

Gawai Dayak is celebrated by the Iban, Orang Ulu and<br />

Bidayuh of Sarawak in early June <strong>to</strong> mark the riceharvesting<br />

season. This enchanting festival showcases<br />

traditional ceremonies and dances held in various ‘long<br />

houses’ or communal <strong>home</strong> all over Sarawak. Relatives<br />

and visi<strong>to</strong>rs are served rice wine or Tuak and chicken<br />

cooked in bamboo.<br />

Visi<strong>to</strong>rs can go for the ‘Gawai Special Package’ <strong>to</strong><br />

enjoy and experience the Gawai Dayak celebration<br />

in Sarawak. The packaged offer are for 3 days 2<br />

nights or 2 days 1 night. Venue for this programme<br />

will be at the 3 longhouses of the Iban and Bidayuh<br />

at Sarawak Cultural Village. The ‘Gawai Special<br />

different wavelength and heights. During spring tide, tidal<br />

bore with high magnitudes can be observed clearly. The<br />

Benak continues its journey another 30km inland, ending<br />

near the small village of Engkilili in Sri Aman.<br />
