The festival aim to be the leading tourism-driven
music festival in the region, assembling regionally
and internationally recognized jazz musicians and
showcasing Miri as a city of cosmopolitan and
relaxing lifestyle.

at Pekan Lawas, Limbang
This festival is traditionally a celebration of the
rice harvest but now it showcases a variety of
Lun Bawang culture and events such as Ruran
Ulung (beauty pageant contest) and nguip suling
(bamboo musical instrument band).

Batu Danau, Limbang
Pesta Babulang is a buffalo race festival
which is significant to the Bisaya
community in Limbang. Organized by
the Bisaya Association and introduced to
promote tourism in this area.

A tourism promotion that brings in Malaysian
Crafts and Batik from Peninsular Malaysia,
Sabah and Sarawak. Organised by the Miri
City Council and Malaysian Handicraft
Development Corporation (Sarawak), this
event aim at becoming an annual event like
Miri May Fest, which is held in May.

Challenge

Miri has acquired its city status on 20 th May 2005. Miri
City Council has organized various kinds of programmes
to commemorate Miri City Day. Miri has obtained one (1)
Record in Malaysia Book of Records on its main event held
in year 2007 and five (5) records in year 2010. Miri City
Day Celebration Programmes have been well received by
both the locals and foreign visitors.
Organised in conjunction with Sarawak’s Harvest
Festival known as Gawai Dayak highlighting exciting
cultural programmes such as :- • Theme play in Iban
legends • Ethnic beauty pageant “Miss World Harvest
Festival” • International cultural concert • Ironman WHF

Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu Longhouses

A two days rafting competition where participants get
the chance to manoeuvre the raft once used by riverine
communities and to experience the rich Iban culture in
their most natural environment.

Motorcross Circuit
A thrill one-day event, the ‘Samarahan Motorcross
Challenge’ is open to all Motorcross fans or
associations in Sarawak! With the objective of
promoting Samarahan as a tourist destination and
venue for aspiring new talents to be discovered.

This is an event to promote the
agricultural sector produced by
Bintangor local entrepreneur.
Other activities includes Trade Fair,
Agricultural Exhibition and Sport
Events. The highlight for this event
is the Decorative Float, Fireworks and
also City Cleanliness Contest.
Bung Bratak

1 May | at Bung Bratak (Gunung
Bratak) Kpg. Tembawang Sauh, Bau
About 200 years ago, the Bidayuh built a fort and a
settlement on top of Mount Bratak, otherwise known as
Bung Bratak in their dialect. Their descendants now inhabit
30 villages in the district of Bau. Each year they recall their
history and foster brotherhood among the Bidayuh with
a festival on the mountain. Join them in their ancestral
home as they make the half-hour ascent to the mountain
peak to stage traditional games and dances and enjoy
local delicacies.

at Bintulu Old Airport
The Sarawak Cub Prix 2012 is the 6 th edition of
the series which SARSA has successfully organised
this unique and prestigious event designed to be a
platform where aspiring local riders are spotted and
groomed for national championship. It has already
made invaluable contribution in boosting the sport
of motorcycle racing in Sarawak by uncovering
local talents who have gone on to be the national
champions and participating in the Asian series.

Safari

Tanjung Manis Fishing Safari competition has been
held since 2004. With the aim of promoting Tanjung
Manis as an eco-tourism destination, especially the
fishing sport activity. The area for the competition is
between Kuala Rajang and Tanjung Sirik.
