The Naonal <strong>Credit</strong> <strong>Union</strong> Administraon<br />
(<strong>NCUA</strong>) operates the Naonal <strong>Credit</strong> <strong>Union</strong> Share<br />
Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) to protect accounts at<br />
federally insured credit unions up to $250,000.<br />
The $250,000 in coverage applies to each share<br />
owner, per insured credit union, for each account<br />
ownership category.<br />
This booklet provides examples of insurance<br />
coverage under <strong>NCUA</strong>’s rules.<br />
Because the scope of this booklet is limited,<br />
credit union members should contact their<br />
federally insured credit unions or <strong>NCUA</strong>’s Office of<br />
Consumer Protecon for further share insurance<br />
coverage details about situaons not addressed in<br />
this booklet.<br />

relang to share insurance coverage published<br />

The Federal <strong>Credit</strong> <strong>Union</strong> Act and <strong>NCUA</strong> rules on<br />
share insurance coverage control how accounts<br />
will be insured at each federally insured credit<br />
union. No persons may imply a federally insured<br />
credit union can offer coverage that differs from<br />
this formal structure.<br />
Also, members should review their accounts<br />
periodically and whenever they open new<br />
accounts or modify exisng accounts to ensure<br />
that all their funds remain insured.<br />
