QRN: 600/4055/5 ABOUT THIS QUALIFICATION<br />
This qualification builds on the knowledge and skills<br />
from the <strong>Level</strong> 4 Certificate <strong>in</strong> <strong>Playwork</strong> (<strong>QCF</strong>).<br />
It provides the <strong>in</strong>-depth <strong>in</strong>formation about the role of the<br />
<strong>Level</strong> 5 playworker when work<strong>in</strong>g with children and<br />
young people between the ages of 4 to 16. Like the <strong>Level</strong><br />
4 Certificate it is aimed at playworkers who have a wide<br />
knowledge and understand<strong>in</strong>g of children and young<br />
people and a deep appreciation of playwork pr<strong>in</strong>ciples<br />
and practice.<br />
Learners will cover the higher level knowledge and skills<br />
needed when lead<strong>in</strong>g practice and manag<strong>in</strong>g staff <strong>in</strong> a<br />
playwork sett<strong>in</strong>g. This <strong>in</strong>cludes develop<strong>in</strong>g professional<br />
practices, build<strong>in</strong>g relationships and personal<br />
development.<br />

There are no formal entry requirements for this<br />
qualification but learners should be at least<br />
18 years of age.<br />

Learners will need to be work<strong>in</strong>g, volunteer<strong>in</strong>g or<br />
on practical placement as they will need to show<br />
competence <strong>in</strong> both knowledge and skills.<br />

ASSESSMENT<br />
All units are <strong>in</strong>ternally assessed and will be graded pass or refer. Assessment enables the<br />
learner’s workplace practice to provide evidence for <strong>in</strong>dividual units as well as the whole<br />
qualification. Methods of assessment could <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />
