International Matters 7.1 British Table Tennis Federation Limited (BTTF) 7.1.1 The British Table Tennis Federation is responsible for the Great Britain and NI elite programme. It operates as a limited company with a board elected every four years covering the Olympic cycle and a selection panel responsible for athletes’ participation in both Olympic qualification events and the Olympic Games. It liaises with the British Olympic Association, UK Sport including negotiating funding, and involved in both the UK Coaching Framework and the UK School Games. 7.1.2 An audit took place and a number of governance changes were approved by the AGM and Board including various policies, terms in office and non-executive directors in line with the audit recommendations. 7.1.3 The announcement by UK Sport of no initial award for table tennis on the project ‘Road to Rio (2016)’ was clearly very disappointing although not unexpected due to the “No Compromise” policy including the result of the BTTF appeal, albeit further submission for funding can be made annually, starting in December 2013. 7.1.4 The Chairman is a member of the British Olympic Committee (BOA) elected by the BTTF Board and was involved with the London 2012 Olympic Games which everyone agrees was a fantastic success, and a number of legacy projects have been started by the Government and its funding agencies. 7.1.5 The Board approved the document submitted by the BOA in regard to its Corporate Strategy for the next Olympic cycle. 7.1.6 The BTTF International Influence Programme is supported by UK Sport and delegates have attended a number of meetings. A plan for the 2013-2014 period has been approved by the Board and submitted to UK Sport. 7.2 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) 7.2.1 The Chairman attended the AGM, Board of Directors and a number of other meetings including some with the ITTF President and others in Paris during the World Individual Championships (WIC). The elections of the ITTF President and his Executive Board took place and details were put on the ETTA website. 7.2.2 Delegates from England attended meetings in Paris involving the equipment, nomination and women’s committees as well as seminars for development programmes. In addition the ETTA Chief Executive arranged meetings including discussions with China in regard to the potential for setting up an elite table tennis centre in the UK. 7.2.3 Nominations were submitted from England to the ITTF for positions on the Equipment (Peter Bradley), Veterans (Martin Clark), Umpires and Referees Committees (Stuart Sherlock) and the Board of Directors (Alex Murdoch). 7.2.4 A number of resolutions and propositions were discussed and voted on during the WIC at the ITTF AGM and Board of Directors meetings; details will be published when available.

International Matters 7.2.5 The 2014 World Team Championships will take place in Tokyo, Japan, from 28th April to 5th May. 7.3 European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) 7.3.1 England delegates attended the ETTU EGM and board meetings in Paris during the World Individual Championships and passed a number of propositions. 7.3.2 The European Table Tennis Union Ordinary Congress took place during the 2012 European Championships in Herning (Denmark) on 17th October 2012. 7.3.3 Stefano Bosi was re-elected President and the Executive Board was elected, including a new Deputy President Jean- Francois Kahn from France. 7.3.4 Martin Clark was unanimously accepted by the Congress as the ETTU financial expert. 7.3.5 Alex Murdoch was elected as one of the eight ITTF Board of Directors members subject to confirmation at the ITTF AGM. 7.3.6 The nominations from England were elected for the following Committees: Technical - Steve Welch Veterans - Eileen Shaler Para TT - Alex Murdoch Ranking - Malcolm Macfarlane Umpires & Referees - Mick Strode WWP - Val Murdoch 7.3.7 The 2013 European Championships will take place in Schwechat, Austria, from 4th to 13th October. 7.4 Commonwealth 7.4.1 The next Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow from 23rd July to 3rd August 2014 and table tennis has been confirmed as one of the selected sports. 7.4.2 The Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation (CTTF) Championships took place in New Delhi, India, from 5th May to 10th May 2013. 7.4.3 The general meeting and management meeting took place at both the WIC in Paris and the CTTF Championships in New Delhi, and were attended by ETTA delegates. 45
