6.19.13 The Regional Squad
Championships took place in
Doncaster in April 2012 with the
London Region victorious. This is
an excellent event and the only
one in the calendar where the
regions compete against each
other. This also provides the
regional coaches and the coaches
they are mentoring to come
together and support the young
players in their respective regions.
6.19.14 They were also held this year
in April 2013 and this time the
winners were the East Region.
6.19.15 In August 2012 the third threeday
ETTA Summer Coaching
Camp was held at Lilleshall
inviting four players from each
region (two boys and two girls).
The ten regional coaches were
in attendance and as well as
the intense daily training, fitness
testing also took place. It was an
excellent camp with the ratio of
coaches to players 1-4. A fourth
camp will take place again at
Lilleshall in August 2013.
6.19.16 Aled Howell and Matt Stanforth
were involved in promoting the
European Qualification matches in
Portsmouth and Gateshead. They
organised schools exhibitions
and Nick Jarvis and Alan Cooke
conducted a coaching workshop.
6.19.17 Most of the regional coaches have
been involved with the Ping in a
variety of areas, i.e. meetings,
launch, and the ‘Ping Parlours’.
6.19.18 All the regional coaches have
been involved with the sports
coach UK ‘Talent Coaches
Breakfast Club’. This is a
partnership with the Coaching
System Support Network (CSSN)
and will provide targeted CPD for
our coaches. They will be able to
learn from experts, share good
practice, and discuss challenges
and ideas with coaches in a
similar position.
6.19.19 Matt Stanforth graduated with his
PG Dip from University Central
Lancashire (UCLAN) in December
2012, and Natalie Green, Paul
Whiting, Stephen Gertsen, Craig
Bryant, Sally Shutt and Jane
Barella are at various stages in
their degrees/level 4.
6.19.20 A summary of the work activity
for the period 1st April 2012-31st
March 2013 for the 10 regional
coaches is shown in figure 4.
6.20 Regional Coaching
Co-ordinators & Regional
Coaching Forums
6.20.1 There continues to be a number of
Regional Coaching Co-ordinators
(RCC) working at local level to
support the work of the regional
coaches. Not all regions have a
RCC, and those that do provide
