Although there is a greater<br />
concentration <strong>of</strong> tourist<br />
activity in the southwestern part <strong>of</strong> the<br />
isl<strong>and</strong> in the Crown Point area, there is a<br />
wide choice <strong>of</strong> accommodation in Mount<br />
Irvine, Grafton, Lowl<strong>and</strong>s, Plymouth,<br />
Moriah <strong>and</strong> the northern part <strong>of</strong> the isl<strong>and</strong>,<br />
either at the very picturesque Speyside or<br />
Charlotteville. The <strong>of</strong>ficial tourist season<br />
is from mid-December to mid-April. It is<br />
wise to make early bookings especially<br />
over Christmas <strong>and</strong> New Year, during the<br />
Carnival season, Easter, <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Tobago</strong><br />
Jazz Festival in April. Be sure to inquire if<br />
breakfast <strong>and</strong> taxes are included in the<br />
rates quoted. Hotels are subject to 15%<br />
VAT (value-added tax) <strong>and</strong> 6.5% hotel tax.<br />
