wear <strong>and</strong> beach bags.<br />

At the Crown Point Hotel, Bambú Gift Shop <strong>and</strong> T’s <strong>of</strong>fers a<br />

variety <strong>of</strong> local <strong>and</strong> Caribbean h<strong>and</strong>icrafts <strong>and</strong> gift items, <strong>and</strong> more<br />

art <strong>and</strong> crafts can be found at nearby boutiques like d’Art Yard <strong>and</strong><br />

the Mangrove Shop. Leaving Crown Point <strong>and</strong> driving east (there is<br />

no other direction to go!), you will pass Things Natural with its fine<br />

selection <strong>of</strong> wooden h<strong>and</strong>-crafted creations, art, jewellery, natural<br />

products <strong>and</strong> naturalized herbs <strong>and</strong> Artworkz Gallery (original art,<br />

prints <strong>and</strong> rough clay pieces). There are shops above the wellknown<br />

Pennysavers supermarket in Canaan. Turning north onto<br />

Shirvan Road <strong>and</strong> driving to Buccoo Village, you will find Batiki<br />

Point tucked in between La Tartaruga <strong>and</strong> Sunday School, <strong>and</strong> their<br />

stock includes shockingly tropical h<strong>and</strong>-painted wall hangings <strong>and</strong><br />

tees, plus clothing, shoes, <strong>and</strong> bags.<br />

Driving east again, Horizons Framing in the Gourmet Foods<br />

mall on Mt. Pleasant local road, <strong>of</strong>f Shirvan Road, has some lovely<br />

original local art <strong>and</strong> prints in addition to attractive imported<br />

Indian crafts <strong>and</strong> a selection <strong>of</strong> frames. There is also The Art Gallery<br />

just <strong>of</strong>f the highway opposite <strong>Tobago</strong> Plantations Resort, <strong>and</strong> here<br />

you can find original paintings <strong>and</strong> prints by local artists as well as<br />

Khallaloo Bowl, open for breakfast, lunch <strong>and</strong> afternoon tea. Also<br />

on the highway, is the Lowl<strong>and</strong>s Gulf City Mall with its branch <strong>of</strong><br />

Scotiabank <strong>and</strong> a selection <strong>of</strong> retail outlets that sell books, beach<br />

items, a pharmacy, general household products <strong>and</strong> clothing.<br />

Zoom Caribbean <strong>of</strong>fers one <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tobago</strong>’s best selection <strong>of</strong> resort<br />

clothing <strong>and</strong> accessories. There is lots <strong>of</strong> parking space, a fast-food<br />

court <strong>and</strong> MovieTowne’s four-screen cineplex.<br />
